I think they are minimum 15 to 20 yrs old The red rubber pc become really hard, anyone know how to take a dried up rubber out? |

I have a G1831 which I absolutely love. I was able to tear the original rubbers off and affixed new rubbers. However, when I wanted to take the new rubber off, it was very difficult and the rubber was torn. I have heard lighter fluid or goof off works. Just get it pulled away a bit and get the lighter fluid or goof off in the crack and let it sit and keep working at it. Be careful because you can pull some of the wood off if it is stuck good.

Acetone (nail polish remover) also works to get old rubber off a blade.

I think the glue on these blades are not speed glue. The black rubber one, I think I can still take the rubber piece out cause the rubber is still soft. The red rubber one, I really don't know how ><" $4 for fixing a 15 to 20 years old blade it is worth it but I don't know any master blade fixer. I didn't try to pull the rubber piece out yet cause I don't want to damage the wood. Anyone got some guarantee idea? |

i had one as well...i put it in the microwave and peeled the rubbers off...be aware that this is very dangerous as the plies can bubble and ruin the blade so you have to do it for very little 30+ sec ------------- Viscaria, Ma Long 5, Old Clippers, BTY Ovtcharov and Various Custom blades |

microwave @@ sounds a little bit dangerous for me, you got a G1835 too? How does it feel after you replace the rubber pc? I tried the Black rubber one with the 6512 rubber on it, it feels pretty hard and its pretty fast. |

You should try to remove the rubber as much as you can. Then you can sand down what remains (the sponge) bit by bit using high grit sandpaper.. This is what my uncle do with his c-pen (also with some dead rubber on it). I don't know what his was, but they look very much like yours.

I have some old DHS which are definitely not a crap, but very good for playing. One is with CO handle and harder dark wooden veneers with a weight around 86 grams, another one is with FL handle and plays like Schlager Carbon OFF+, weight near 108 grams, but the head is smaller so smaller rubbers will compensate the bigger weight of the blade. It could be a dream racket for someone who loves old DHS blades.   |

I have tested mid 80s 1835 blades and all feel dull maybe older versions are better. I had a meteor blade from my uncle and had everything any could want in a blade.

Yes, sure. Meteor are good blades with high density. Same as the old Gold Cup, for example. For a pity, these Meteor and Gold Cup blades are too heavy and with not so comfy handles for today's game. And with posting them some nowadays handles you will make them even heavier. If you play thin rubbers you could be satisfied. Otherwise some of the old DHS with 6 plies wood are probably the best, but not so easy to find them.
