Dear members of MYTT forum:

Here comes another year of the biggest table tennis event in America - The 2011 North America Teams Championships. ALEX-TT/MyTableTennis.NET will see you again in Baltimore, Maryland on November 25-27, 2011!

As usual ALEX-TT/MyTableTennis.NET is going to sponsor an Elite team formed by the world class players, together with a number of MYTT teams formed by the MYTT forum members. Shortly we are going to announce our breathtaking Elite Team members. The Elite Team players we are sending to Baltimore this year will consist of players from the Chinese national 1st team.

Now we are accepting registration of teams to join with us. All teams will be under the Alex Table Tennis name (ie. Alex Table Tennis-Masters, Alex Table Tennis-Dragons, Alex Table Tennis-Dragons, Tigers, etc.). We only accept team registration, individual player registration is not accepted. If you don't have a team yet, you should form your team first before registering with us.

Teams that have already registered with NATT are welcome to switch to ALEX-TT/MyTableTennis.NET teams.

What you get with the sponsoring from ALEX-TT/MyTableTennis.NET?
1. We will provide one free tournament t-shirt and one free tracksuit for each sponsored player. Pictures of the uniform will be posted soon. Additional t-shirts and tracksuits are available at a special discounted price.

2. We will offer a $20 coupon to the MyTableTennis.COM online store to each sponsored player.

3. We will also help paying for part of your entry fee:
*If the average rating of the team is above 2500, the team will receive $800.
*If the average rating of the team is between 2401 and 2500, the team will receive $400.
*If the average rating of the team is between 2201 and 2400,the team will receive $250.
*If the average rating of the team is between 2001 and 2200, the team will receive $200.
*If the average rating of the team is between 1801 and 2000, the team will receive $150.

Yeah, we will bring the best players to make the games more exciting for spectators. I think it is good news too for everyone who get a chance to play them.

A banner is up on the home page, the elite team players are in the banner. Before I announce them, can anyone recognize who they are?

I think you should consider producing some lower-grade cheap quality shirts with the Website name in big letters and the logo to advertise the site. I don't wanna speak for everyone, but I would definitely wear a plain black shirt with the sites name, logo, and phrase. And since this site is so diverse with forum members being from practically all over the world, your advertising is basically globalized with a fairly cheap price investment. And if shipping were to be an issue, I'm sure members would gladly pay for shipping if they were to get a shirt. And I'm not saying this to get one, just an idea to increase awareness of the growing sport known as table tennis and to provide a trustworthy site to newer players where they can get tips, questions answered and friendly advice. Most of the time... :)

I like the uniform.

Btw, I am looking for a team to join. I'm 2031 right now so looking for a team of 4, possibly over 40. Would like to be in a team with ratings of about +- 100 of mine.

Send me a PM if you are interested.

honestly song and fang bo aren't any higher level than some of the elite teams from the past, they just carry a more prestigious title as chinese junior team members

Alex,

I received my green shirt this afternoon.   It's of pretty decent quality with breathing materials.  Thanks.  Let me know if you are interested in the proposal about putting your logo in my software.   In any case, I'd like to thank you for your generosity.

I'll probably try to make it to NA Teams with my son the first time.   Lots of people told me it is lots of fun.  Hope to make that decision within ac ouple of weeks.

Best regards,
-Chunyen

When I said all that, I was talking about the quality, depth, and enthusiasm of this year's field. Plus, it seems each new year MyTT is more and more into bringing more quality, facilitating good teams, and generally building up this event.

That is why I said it shapes up to be not only the best yet but MyTT seems to to making it increasingly better with everyone's participation and energy. That is what i meant, but anyone can accpt it in any matter. I am just an Internet TT hack. :)

To Bensmithbortey:

I believe everyone can enter but you need a team to play in the tournament.   Otherwise, you can ask the tournament to help put you on the open list.

Just to let you know that we have more than 10 teams registered with us already. Our plan is to sponsor 10 teams to Baltimore this year. Even though we are still accepting applications, we can't guarantee any spot available unless there is a team cancel or miss the payment.

Thank you all for your participation and support!

Alex

I wonder if there is still available spots?
I have a team with a mid 2300 rating average that would be interested in a sponsorship.
I don't have the birthday and zip from one of the players.. I'll see the 3rd player only on Friday to get that information. Can I submit the sponsorship request without the birthday and ZIP of one player and later provide that information?

Our team just lost a player (me).

Looking for a replacement to be a fourth player on    "Alex Table Tennis EPIC".

The remaining players are:  2126, 2110, and 1953.   (Jurica Bulovic, Henry Hu, and Xue Di).

It would be nice to add someone between 2000 and 2200.

If anyone is interested, contact Steve Hopkins at [email protected]

Steve

A friend of mine who is 2003 rated might be interested. He plays about mid 2100 level but the reason why he is only 2003 rated is because he hardly plays any tournaments.. He plays about 1 tournament per year LOL.
He recently asked me about them teams etc. and he said that he might be interested in playing but he kinda didn't like the price tag.. Well, maybe he'll change his mind..  He definetely plays well above his rating, beating 2200 players frequenly and taking games of 2400 players.

We've sent out a lot of emails over the last 24 hours, so I have no idea how long the spot will be open.  But for right now, the team needs a fourth guy (and would consider a fifth).

2000+ is fine.  They are only replacing me Smile !

Talk to your friend, and if he wants to play have him email me.

Song Hongyuan couldn't come due to his participating in the WJTTC this month. We replaced him with two young players from China: Tao Wenzhang (17 years old) and Han Chuanxi (16 years old).  The estimated rating for both of them are 2700. For some reason, the organizer only give them the estimate at 2500.

Zhang Chao and Fang Bo are confirmed. We will arrive in Baltimore next Thursday. See you guys there!

Alex

I doubt any pro uses stock H3 Neo, as it is slow and not enough power for distance counterlooping. It would have to be factory-tuned much stronger than the H3 Neo that you or I can buy.

This year's Baltimore Teams looks to have a LOT of good times and good fight. I am surprised there is not so much discussion going on. Alex has provided a LOT of resources for this and must be commended. It is like an early Christmas TT for some.

Jian Fei Sun - One of the best OX chopper alive.

Kazuyuki Yokoyama - My fav player.

Carlos Sosa - 2400+ defender.

Xiyao Song - 2300+ LP player.

Seyed Hesam Hamrahian - 1950 chopper. Not quite good? Wait 3-4 years coz he's 10 yrs old!!!!!

bogeyhunter,

If you could record Jian Fei Sun playing Alex's elite team that would be great. I've watched Sun play quite a bit - to date I've never seen him play anyone who could push him - including Wang Zhen. It would be great to see him against some high level players to see just how good he is!

Thanks

ZJKandMLfan,

Yeah - I saw those, I thought HongTao played very well but heard from Sun's camp he was not playing a 100% due to certain political issues. I don't want to take anything away from HongTao but people (very close to Sun ) are saying Sun didn't give his all in those matches.

I am hoping in Baltimore everyone will play 100% and have no excuses or issues - as this is a major tournament.

Thanks
JRS

jrscatman, one of my buddies is extremely, extremely close to sun.  The only reason Sun is losing is because he is severely out of practice.

he played his best against hongtao and lost fair and square.  however, if sun was to practice he could easily beat hongtao.

hongtao is practicing now in ottawa with national team and he has been improving drastically frmo what i heard.  actually i just talked to him a couple days ago on facebook.

there are many political issues surrounding Sun and the club of my table tennis but it is not political issues or sun not playing his best that he lost to hongtao

Sun makes it extremely clear right now that he plays purely for his own entertainment and for the entertainment of others.  he does not care that much about winning and losing.  Even in the interview when he beat wang zhen, he made it clear several times that at the moment, he is a professional coach, not a professional player.  he has not practiced and at the moment, it doesn't seem like hes any interested in practicing,

On behalf of the team Alex Table Tennis - MD/NY (pictured above), I would like to say thank you to MyTabletennis.net and Alex Li for sponsoring us during the tournament.

We had lots of fun, played well ... and loved the warmup suits and shirts we received from MyTT.  We got many questions, and compliments about MyTT and the uniforms from other participants who weren't familiar with it.

Also, Bogeyhunger, one of our team members, filmed some of the amazing matches, which can be found on his Youtube channel (search for bogeyhunter9 and filter by upload date).

I have a question. Some of these guys like Wang Zhen and Fang Bo are World Class Players, but how come it does not look like what we usually see how they play in international competition. They still played great in these matches but not that good and excited. Fang Bo played with the chopper in 1 clip and won by only 2 points of the last set. Why was it so hard for him to defeat this chopper? I do not know who this chopper is but of course he can't be compared to Joo. Can someone explain? Thanks

I was there for the final.  I can tell you this... Fang Bo is good, but not really world class or as good as Zhang Chao.  Fang Bo doesn't have the backhand to go through the chopper like Zhang Chao did.  So, he has a hard time to beat the chopper.  Also, if you watch the video, you will notice that Fang Bo just kept on looping on his forehand.  He didn't do anything different for all 5 games.

On the other hand, Zhang Chao has more power on his forehand loops.  He moved the chopper around the table.  He looped one and push one... he alternated his shots (BH and FH).  He didn't take any unnecessary risks.  In short, he is a world class and a smarter player than Fang Bo.

However, let me tell you this... if someone plays a counter attacking game, Fang Bo will play well because he has the speed to adapt.

Maybe you guys could be clearer about which "chopper" you're talking about, because Fang and Zhang played several: Sun from Canada in the QF, Wang Wei from Spain in the SF, and Lin Ju from the Dominican Republic in the final. I think the closest match was between Fang Bo and Wang Wei (3-2). Wang doesn't play internationally but his USATT rating is 2795, which is close to world class. Compare with another modern defender, Wang Xi, who dominates the German league.

Don't underestimate players just because they don't have a world ranking!

As for the final, Fang Bo beat Lin Ju pretty easily.

Speedy,

Thanks for explaning to me. I'm clear but still kind of upset to see how Fang Bo played. I thought he did beat Timo Boll once? I thought at this level and with this intensive training, he should not have any problem against choppers or pip players especially in china they have a lot of these types of players to train with. I know it might be harder for him to play against with chopper than counter attack player but can not be that difficult. THis guy is not Joo or one of the famous chopper at international level.

It's just the way he played did not convince me enough. Eventhough he won, I could still think it's a tight game and it could be luck to win too.

they don't always play their hardest.  for example, a couple months ago, players like zoran primorac, bojan tokic came over to play a tournament.  they were amazing but you could see they weren't playing their best.

There are times where these chinese players already know their going to win so they dont have to win by so much.  Also, this tournament doesn't mean much to them and the competition is much weaker.  On ITTF pro tours, the stakes are much higher so their level is higher

No body expects him to beat everyone easy. Just a question and curiosity since we are clasified in different levels in tabel tennis running down from World Class down to garage player. When you're talking about world class level, it's more like a career and that's why the expectation has to be high like any of US basketball player.
