If I was to make a visit to the El Monte area, what are pros and cons about playing at the seemingly very nice options in the area? I made a map showing the 3 clubs that are basically right next to each other:

I would love to hear from people that play at http://www.latabletennis.com/" rel="nofollow - LATTA , http://www.californiatabletennis.com" rel="nofollow - Gao Jun (California Table Tennis) , and/or http://www.paddleattack.com/" rel="nofollow - Grace Lin TTC .

Thank you in advance.

All three clubs have very nice playing conditions.  It all depends on your schedule, as some days are better than others if your goal is to play as many good players as possible.  You should definitely try all three, so at least you can say "I have been to them ALL!"  LOL

Thanks, RR - I was hoping you'd weigh in. :)

Are there specific schedules for each club in terms of training - and what is the likelihood of being able to play with some higher level players (like 2300+) just coming in for a visit. My entire reasoning for coming would be to have the opportunity to play with some players of this caliber - as part of my plan of "getting back into my old playing shape".

I understand what you say about visiting all 3 clubs - and I'm sure they're all great spots (certainly looks like it from their websites)... but I didn't know if there was any difference as a visitor.

When do you plan to visit?  With the U.S. Open coming up soon, you should be able to meet up with many good players who are practicing hard at these three clubs...

I don't have any specific time in mind - could be any, really. The US Open timing makes sense... thanks for pointing that out.

Come to the Bay Area Pondus, ICC, TopSpin should be good for you to play in.  And I'll definitely play with you if you get a chance to come up here after your visit in El Monte.  =)

I could make a trip to the Bay Area for sure too (or instead). I have a business partner in Palo Alto, so I have plenty of reason to go to the SF/Silicon Valley area. How are ICC and Top Spin in terms of visiting players coming by to play? Is there going to be a chance to play against high level players? Do you (or others) know of specific schedules to do so as a visitor (days and times)?

Let me know.

I am visiting San Diego in the last week of the month. Will be staying close to the airport area. Any clubs nearby that I can play at. Please let me know with timings for the club. Thanks

If you are looking for high level play You should consider Alameda. During last nights round robin, group 1 averaged over 2300. We had a visiting player of around 2400 who plays division 2 in Spain go 9-9.

Our round robins are Wednesday and Sunday. Info is here:   http://alamedattc.org/roundrobin.htm - http://alamedattc.org/roundrobin.htm

We also have a monthly tournament with up to $300 for the winner: http://alamedattc.org/rumble.htm - http://alamedattc.org/rumble.htm

Add 100 - 200 points to convert Alameda rating to USATT.

So, I'll be in LA tomorrow (Tuesday) and Wednesday, and I'm planning on bringing my gear. I will only be able to play later on at night, so I would LOVE for any of you LA locals to give me an idea of which club to show up at for best chances of getting some fun play. I see that all the clubs are open till about 10-ish, so that should work for me.

I visited LATTA briefly on Tuesday night – very nice people there. I'm not used to playing without air-conditioning, so in the middle of August in the valley that was a bit of a struggle for this pampered boy.
