Just wanted to find out how many are on this site.  I thought I was the only one.  I'm sure there at least a handful of us    since TT picked up popularity in the past few years especially in the Phillipines.

By the way,

I'm Sean from Chino Hills, California near Los Angeles.

Hey Sean BTW how far is chino hills from corona? Ill be staying with my sister there after the conference in minnesota. What club do you play in?

Posted By: SDRamones
Date Posted: 05/22/2006 at 12:55am

Mardin,

I play at different ones in my area.  I've only recently gotten serious in the past 3 months but I have visited West Covina, Long Beach, Walnut Rec Cent and the rec center in Chino at the Preserve near the Chino Airport.

Corona is roughly 20-45 minute drive from where I am at.  Depends what area.  Corona Hills side or Riverside Corona area.  Corona is a big city.  One side spans near the Orange County Side and the Other reaches the Riverside County line and also hits parts of the San Bernardino County Line near the Farm Cattle Ranches near CHino.  If you are near the San Bernardino farming area line it is really close.

How long you staying?  What do you do?

- Sean

I think my sister's new place is corona valley or something in orange county. The last time i visited her she was still living in fullerton so i am not familiar with her new place.

Ill be staying in corona just for a few days. Ill be staying in minnesota for week because of a conference then I stopover my sister's place(because my parents are also there).before i go back to the philippines. I need to go back work. (I am a public school teacher). I dont know if i have even time to play because my time there will be short and my parents and sister will maximize my stay.

actually its not a perk for being in the public school( you know how the government is). A friend of mine who i work with in ethnomusicolgy invited me in this conference and he said he will get me sponsors so I can go for free. Since i am in the states already my parents want me to visit them so its like hitting two birds with one stone.

Hi felix! Just a question, Dont you find hard using long pips on the backhand when using and off+ blade like kool? Do you chop with the long pips or just block? I am experimenting with shakehand and learning to chop and block using long pips in my backhand.

Posted By: fasantos
Date Posted: 05/22/2006 at 4:22am
No I don't, I hit with my long pips. I rarely chop, only when I'm forced away from the table. It's hard when your just learning how to use long pips and it takes a while to get used to it. I've been playing with long pips many years.

askal is the shortened term for asong kalye which literally means street dog or mongrel. Like a typical dog in the philippines that is wandering around the neighborhood.

@mqr 116

For now I am experimenting with the shakehand grip for the fun of it.(i play penhold). I am using friendship 755 now so i can also attack using long pips.

Sama ako dyan! Pinoy living in Colorado Springs, CO. I play in a couple of clubs here in Colorado Springs and one up in Aurora (south of Denver)

Suwerte nga ako, kasi mga coach ko dito are former world champions Li Zhensi and Zhang Li (husband and wife). Both of them played for China of course, back in the '70's. Both were champions in doubles and of course teams.

Pinoy here in San Jose, California. I'm relatively new to this sport, its been about a year now since I started playing. I've been coached once a week for about 5 months. Since last year I've had bought 3 blades (stiga all around, stiga tube carbo and donic diablo) and several rubbers even though my coach told me not to. Everytime I read of a new great blade or rubber, I always have this urge to buy. Do you guys have the same equipment junkie experience when you were a newbie?

For me it's all about TRYING instead of buying.  This sport can get expensive once you started doing that. ;)  I have the urge but luckily have only bought a few for personal use.  Especially if you like Bryce or the more expensive rubber sheets.

Cheap low throw Chinese Rubber??

I would suggest Globe 999T with Japanese Sponge.. Not the cheapest but low throw compared to the Cheaper original Chinese sponge version.

or. ( I may be wrong on this)

RITC 729 1mm sponge.. I guess this is cheapest there is.

salamat mak. I am looking at either this or 729-3 jap sponge

729-3 has a medium high throw angle, if u glue it would be even higher, globe 999/999t with jap is definitely a good choice, lighter and a lil bit faster but with good control

Hi all, Great Topic. I'm Aust-Pinoy. Both parents filipino pero Im born and raised in Australia. Sydney to be precise.

Ive only been playing just over a year and Im loving it. The club Im playing in now, theres 5-6 Filipinos. One of them use to represent Mindanoa. I had a lesson with him and I learnt so much in the one hour.

http://www.pinpingonline.com/ - www.pinpingonline.com I actually bought my blade and rubbers there on Taft Avenue, last May 2006, when I was there for a holiday. Blade Donic Perrson Dotec Off, Red Donic Sonex, Black Donic Cobra. For the price, I wish I bought two..hehe..next time na lang J

fil-chinese nga. pero, it was a guy, who served me, baka si Malvin. His customer service was really good. He me asked questions to try and solve a problem and find out what I was after.

He offered the dotec Carbokev initially but I said that might be too fast, so he suggested the dotec off. Black - Donic Coppa pala, hindi Cobra.

I also bought a case and he gave me 50 pesos discount. I didn't even ask for it.  Definitely one of my stops again pag balik ko sa pinas.

luke,

ok lang mga feedback sa 8030, mabilis daw eh pero not as fast as gergely, di ka mag eexpect ng super good quality kasi chinese pa rin yan eh.. pero mas ok yung zebra carbon at yung bluethunder fiberglass, i heard a rumor na yung bluethunder fibgerglass blade ng ritc ay ginawa ng donic and the quality is good.

luke, hitter ka ba? if hitting laro mo and marunong ka mag drive kahit spinny na bola ok lang.. you have to base your equipment sa laro mo not the other way around.. it takes a while to master using short pips sa forehand.. i suggest try mo yung cheaper version na short pips.. sa topcoms meron sila ritc 802-40 maganda yan similar sa raystorm though a lil bit slower lang pero mas cheaper baka kasi magsisi ka eh kaay better try it on cheaper short pips muna, mahal ang raystorm.. unless money is not an issue

yogi Bear, i'm a  flat driver ...i'll shift from Iolite blade to 8030 carbon...Iolite handle is too small and the blade is too fast...we're not getting yourger...so I have to use also short pips...raystorm nakakabit sa dati kong iolite so ililipat ko sya sa 8030 Carbon blade. Anyways...thanks
Medyo confused pa ako kung LKT 9010 or 8030 carbon bibilhin ko...

Amoranto TTC is inside the Amoranto Sports Complex located in Quezon City. It is quite near Tomas Morato Avenue, a popular stretch of restaurants within the city.

Maraming players sa Baguio ngayon na pwedeng tumalo sakin lalo na yung mga SLU players(being an ex-SLU player myself). You should try to talk to them as most of them can be approached easily.

Yung mga players ng UC and UB are also good.. yung isang player ng UB sanay sa pustahan hanggang 5 digits kung lalaban ka.
