Nittaku announced on 8/1 the release date and pricing for its http://www.nittaku.com/products/detail/detail.php?id=528#show01" rel="nofollow - Premium 40+ ball .
It will go on sale in Japan on October 10, 2014. The MSRP is ¥1080 plus tax for three 3-star balls, which is roughly $10.53($1 = ¥102.595). That is ¥240(~$2.34) more compared to the ¥840(~$8.19) plus tax for its celluloid counterpart, making it close to a 29% jump.
The plastic it is made of is said to be a special material tailored for table tennis developed in collaboration with http://www.toray.com/" rel="nofollow - Toray . The manufacturing process used is injection molding, which is different from the compression molding used by DHS/DFish for their 40+ and 40mm balls. The wall thickness is .5mm, same as 40mm celluloid balls.
Nittaku claims there are three elements behind the highest performance - high quality, balanced performance, and feel.
The Nittaku Premium 40+ will make its debut in the upcoming European Team Table Tennis Championships to be staged in Lisbon, Portugal from September 24-28.

Very expensive There will be no point in buying it if its durability is as bad as the current plastic shararian nightmare's even if the playability is better

tt-japan added it to the inventory yesterday with a listed price of ¥864($8.54), but it won't be available until the official release date.

Well that's not a whole lot of time for all the elite players to get used to the new ball. Hopefully they will have a lot of samples from Nittaku. My impression was that switching to new balls will not be easy nor fast.

Nittaku should give you disgusting feelings.
Nittaku product is reported to be exceedingly stiff and sturdy ball, overly stiff as compared to DHS's.
The globe of stone is a durable thing you know, to last for years, yet none of my lovers.
Again, roundy pebble can be easely found on the river beach in plenty, it will cost you nothing. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA !!!!

From zeio's post:

========================================
Does that mean that the TT 40+ plastic balls made by different manufacturers will be made from different materials (different plastics)?

Clubs in my area that are providing balls for there weekly RR and open play are paying .50 cents per ball, breakage is always an issue even with 40C but playing and replacement cost will skyrocket with 40+balls and players will have to pony up as clubs cannot afford to make up the difference. The durability issue is important but even if the new balls have a long self life they will become smoother with use which results in slower less spinny balls.

Nittaku Premium 40+ is the only one of the new 40+ balls that feels decent to me, and I have spent time with all three of the main varieties sold now. I will buy it in spite of the price and pray for durability. Once you play with it you will see the difference immediately. It is much rounder also. It is still larger and less spinny, but it has regular and normal bounce. The most recent box of DHS 40+ balls we had, not a single one was round. All six of my original Joola 40+ balls are broken, in less than a week of use. THAT should be disgusting to everybody (even trolls).

Yes this. The old nittaku premiums break so fast. If this ball lasts for years like the reviews say they do, it's WELL WORTH the extra 1 dollar. In fact, we would be saving lots of money. Forget DHS, it's too expensive now(because they break), use Nittaku.

"reported to be exceedingly stiff....."
Reported by whom? Or are you just making things up to get a rise out of people?
(I have actually used these premium balls -- or more correctly I have hit with one of them a few times now)

You may guess why the word "durable" is absent in the description above.

These new balls are junk, lets rebel and go back to the 38 balls.

http://www.iruiru.com/goods_page.php?ct=P&mk=D&gd=DD035" rel="nofollow - iruiru is accepting preorders now for the same price as tt-japan, ¥864 plus tax(¥933).
Seeing Nittaku showcases the confidence to boast about overcoming the great obstacles in the achievement of producing a true sphere with minimum difference in surface alignment and no weird bounce, and specifically addresses that it possesses the strength and pliability to withstand violent hits and impacts, and at least the roundness and bounce are found true from your testing of the sample, I think they truly mean to live up to it.

I ordered 4 boxes of Nittaku Japan 40+ balls. The price with shipping included came to 4956 yen (about $48 US). That's $4 per ball. I won't see them before October. They are coming from Iruiru, and 1500 yen of that is shipping. Once they are being shipped from, say, Paddle Palace they will be less, but still probably around $3 per ball for at least awhile. So let is hope that what they claim about durability is true. I am willing to pay that much on an ongoing basis only if my sole alternatives are playing with the Chinese seamed seamless balls or not playing at all, OR if these Nittaku bals last 3-4 times longer than current celluloid balls, which is asking a lot and seems unrealistic to me (but hope springs eternal).

As far as I can read, in the description above they do not claim anything about durability.

That's a good thing, actually, now you have time to get mentally prepared for the worst.

i think that's just the way the ttjapan website indicates that something is not available. These balls will not be generally sold until October so ttjapan has not as yet sold any. With iruiru they make it clear that you are pre-ordering (and getting in line).
This information is on the Nittaku home page, which zeio linked to at the beginning of the thread.
zeio, where did you find the information that these balls are made by injection molding, etc. Is this only in Japanese? (Edit. I see it now on the Nittaku page).

If tt-japan's price is right when available then it is very good comparing to places like ttnpp and eacheng selling DHS over $10.
Ah! forgot DHS is 6 balls while Nittaku is 3. That makes it double the price. Ouch!
