First of all, I have to admit that Butterfly makes good products. However, their restrictions have driving some of us away from their products. I am just wondering what do you buy/use besides Butterfly.

I do like butterfly but I agree; their prices, restrictions, blade discontinuing, and marketing to say the least are questionable... more like unfair to be honest.
If there was no butterfly I would guess Xiom would be pretty popular for composite blades and rubbers.
For all wood blades Nittaku and Stiga would take it.
Also, Yasaka makes fine blades and decent rubber for a good price.
My vote is Xiom due to a wide variety of products offered at different prices.

I'm confused, can't you get butterfly products anywhere? What "restrictions" are you talking about? Also, what's so bad about blade discounting?
I'm just curious about why you say these things because I'm not that familiar about the table tennis world just yet.

you can... but everywhere outside of japan and maybe korea people are overpaying for BTY products because of the current market/economy.
a lot of classics have been discontinued in handles that a lot of players would still prefer. In general USA butterfly website does not get many ST handles of their blades, they are mostly FL.

My vote went to the Tibhar for both blades and rubbers - high quality yet affordable equipment. Their apparel is also very nice.
Apart from one Korbel FL Japan I sold right after I got (dislike the handle) I haven't had anything else from Butterfly.
My next purchases will be Victas blade(s).

Butterfly is still the gold standard followed by Stiga However the problem is that you also have to pay more for the quality.
I have always recommended players to boycott Butterfly for reasons I won't get into and would lead to my getting banned from the forum for the 1000th time LOL

I don't hate butterfly. I can easily afford to put a new T05 on both side of my paddle every week. I simply don't think T05 will make me play that much better. Right how I like any DHS Neo black on my FH and IQUL 1.8-2mm and SV to reg red on my BH. The total cost is $40. I don't see where one rubber can generate an impulse and resulting trajectory that another can't. I know it will take more effort with the Chinese rubber but they also will not be as sensitive to incoming spin. Since I play close to the table I dont think I need a fast paddle.

I think xioms' stradavarious is one of the best blades under 100$. Theres also Sanwei's 19 ply 1091 (not the 1091A , 1091 is a little cheaper) for under 50$. Rubber wise I've used Omega IV pro for years now. Also a sheet of Sigma II pro. Theyre very durable and the price has decreased considerably. I originally learned to play with Chinese rubbers about 11 years ago and my dad who's a c-pen user, is advising me to go back to my roots.
edit: oh almost forgot. 729 Bomb blade . best 17$ ever spent on megaspin.

I start to hate DHS because they raised their price about 30% last year, at least in China. Their H3 is used to be cheap but not anymore. Their new rubbers are all over 100, some even 200 RMB now. Because all top pro use either DHS, Butterfly or both, they can afford to charge whatever the price and still no worry about sale.

Xiom is one of the best substitute for bty. Recently i have used Victas V>01 Limber. Came pre tuned. Topsheet was very good. They can also be a good competitor in near future.

I don't hate butterfly but I think many of their products are a bit expensive. I like Stiga blades and also play with Donic rubbers. For clothes I don't care that much. |
