Has anyone here done this? My motor is gone and the website says it can be replaced but I'm hardly going to do it myself. How much did you pay for the motor? Did you send it away to be fixed etc.? I'm in Europe btw and bought it from Dandoy. Thanks in advance for any info!

Yes, I replaced mine myself. The motor has a special pinion gear at the end of the shaft that fits perfectly into the wheel. It's basically the same motor that you can buy at a radio supply store, but because the specialized part, I ordered it from newgy. Are you comfortable with soldering? They preferred I send in the robot because it was under warranty. They sent me a motor for free though, in exchange to void the 2 months lefts on the warranty and save themselves the shipping cost. They are very quick to answer the phone or email to get you a price. | Cheers, Chris, thanks for the info. My machine is definitely out of warranty so I'll have to pay obvs. I'm in contact with a shop that sells them here and am awaiting what they have to say. I can solder but would be inclined to let Newgy do it to avoid my messing it up! I'll let you know what happens. Cheers! |

It's not that hard to do. Newgy robots are well designed and can definitely be fixed by most owners. | Thanks Haggisv. I have the manual though frankly, as a creative type only prone to DIY due to innate stinginess, I think I'd sooner perform brain surgery. So basically, if the cost of Newgy fixing it is prohibitively expensive, I'm gonna have to get out the knives and saws! |

Come to think of it, those motors are perfectly suited to a solder free option. You can get "female push on spade terminals". They clip perfectly on the two prongs on the motor and in my opinion are more secure than an amateur soldering. I always think of solder right away because I inherited tons of it from my dad. It's still my go to regardless of how many times I swear and burn myself, haha. I really think you can do it yourself. As haggisv says, newgy robots are very well designed and easy to fix.
