I recently re-embraced the Dark Side (fitting with The Last Jedi coming out this week). I played short pips for nearly 3 years, took a 4 month hiatus, and decided to give inverted rubber another shot. Bad idea... I'm committing to short pips again. I'm giving some German short pips a try. This is Sauer&Tröger, a German TT company specializing in pips.  HASS (German for "hate") & ZARGUS (Lithuanian for "zeal") From the manufacturer: HASS - "Why is your opponent so despondent? That angry look can only be because of another unplayable shot with your S&T Hass! After extensive research S&T have launched Hass, an extremely powerful short pimple with inbuilt speed glue effect. Even with short strokes your shot develops explosive power and rotation. Be the game dominator!" ZARGUS - "S&T Zargus is a wide short pimple providing a consistent balance for both: attacking and passive shots. Zargus offers maximum control combined with a high disruptive effect and makes it easy to place the ball precisely. S&T Zargus – excellent for a full range of controlled strokes."    SPONGE - I bought both rubbers in 1.8 mm thickness. Hass' sponge is quite soft with a bright salmon color (pic doesn't do it justice). Zargus' is harder/deader and is golden-yellow. PIPS - Hass' pips are cylindrical and average width. Zargus' are conical and remind me of 802's pips. HARDNESS - Hass' sponge and cylindrical pips give a softer, springy feel when bouncing the ball up and down. Zargus' harder sponge combined with sturdy conical pips has a hard, solid feel that almost grips the ball when you bounce it. WEIGHT - Sadly, I have no gram scale, but Hass is way lighter than Zargus. At the same thickness, the difference uncut is massive. Zargus has denser sponge and thicker pips, so it's not a big surprise. Hass feels featherweight.
