Greetings Everyone, Hope this is OK. Getting back into TT after 10 years away. The last time I glued something, it was the old school Butterfly Chack that came in a small tube like toothpaste. That stuff smelled noxious. I still have one tube - but my guess is that if I tried it, it would already be all dried up after more than a decade. SO....I have Tenergy 05 and an old Hinoki Jpen blade. My friend gave me a tiny bottle of XIOM I-Bond waterbased glue. There's about 20% left in the bottle. Questions: 1. Is 20% enough to glue a rubber sheet? 2. My understanding is that i spread it out on blade and rubber, let dry, and then put them together. Should I do double later of glue on each surface after one layer dries? Or is one layer on each wood/rubber surface enough? 3. how long to dry Generally? 4. Anything else I should know about XIOM I-Bond? Good glue? 5. I have no problem cutting the rubber after it is glued so that part is good. Thanks in advance for any help. |

| Use a hair dryer when applying each layer. It's much faster. |

| Take care not to stretch the rubber when tou attach it. We used to do thst in speed glue days but Tenergy is not designed for thst |

Thanks everyone for responding. Just to reconforim SmackDat advice, the rubber gets TWO layers, and dry/clear. Then after that, one layer on the blade and JOIN together BEFORE it dries on the blade? I thought it was meant to dry on both surfaces - apparently not? Thanks again everyone!

Both sponge and blade should be dry (he mentioned wait 1-2 min though I suggest using a hair dryer), then stick together using something like a rolling pin. |

some top plies of blades might splinter or split after you take the rubber off due to the glue, so as a precaution it's best to seal the blade with blade sealant before you glue the rubber on the blade ------------- >implying any of us are good |
