First ever footage of the manufacturing process for Nittaku Premium 40+ at Nittaku's new plant in Koga, Ibaraki. There is also some footage of the CNC milling machine used for making their blades. Last but not least, we have Sayaka Hirano pitted against the Nittaku's table tennis robot.

So is that the http://mytabletennis.net/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=69551&title=nittaku-premium-40-secrets-revealed" rel="nofollow - ultrasonic welding ? The plant is run by electricity generated from the solar panels and they use rain water to wash the balls.

Thanks for the video. Very nice watch. I only noticed it because you linked it from the Videos subforum. Maybe I should browse the Equipment subforum too!

I thought about posting it under the General sub, but that beats the purpose of having all those subs, and I assumed people visited the forum through the following URL, http://mytabletennis.net/forum/default.asp" rel="nofollow - http://mytabletennis.net/forum/default.asp , essentially the homepage that lists active threads at the top of the page from every sub except those under Off Topic and For Sale.

I haven't visited the forum the following http://mytabletennis.net/forum/forum.asp?C=link" rel="nofollow - http://mytabletennis.net/forum/forum.asp?C=link since forever, as it makes keeping track of discussions really difficult. Who wants to go through every sub, right?

Great video !
And...Sayaka Hirano very pretty.
She looks better and slimmer than when she used to play.

The ball welding is fascinating. Japanese tv keeps me sane on transoceanic flights even though I don't speak a word of Japanese. They make all sorts of stuff interesting. Especially about food. But this was especially cool.

I don't know if people notice, but the manufacturing process of ABS balls is much less complex, much shorter and much safer to handle.

The cellulose acetate 40+ still requires gluing, where you see the workers still wearing gloves and masks.

The ABS in stub form gets injection-molded right into a dome, unlike with celluloid and cellulose acetate where the discs get molded in multiple runs under high heat.
