Hi All, Why do some professionals, say Lee Sangsu, play with edge tape that is only at the bottom of their bats? Does he add a few layers of edge tape there for the FH to feel more powerful due to the added 2-3 grams? Thanks!

+1. This. But I also think the point about it maybe being an "edge balancer" is fair (though I've never seen one that broad. Usually they're just the width of the blade). Very common for choppers. it's the area of the paddle most likely to make contact with the table during pushes. |
