Hello,

This is my first post here; so I'm new. By this I want to Introduce myself; I'm 25 y old, playing TT for 10 years in Belgium, Bruges. Hi all! I love this forum!

I wanted to ask about lacquering BTY gergely. I've got one from a friend and plan to play it with samba and mambo soft sponge rubbers.

However when removing rubbers after glueing I don't want any wood splinters to come off! How can I prevent this? My wood I'm using now (nova carbon) has splinters come off. should I lacquer the gergely?

The surface of the Gergely Carbon is hinoki which doesn't splinter so there's no need to lacquer it. Sometimes rubber might stick too tightly, then you can put a layer of hairspray on it to make it easier to remove the rubber.

If you want to protect the blade from splintering, you can use polyurethane. Coat the surface lightly, otherwise it will harden the wood too much and affect performance.
You can also use wood varnish, but always use lightly.

wood varnish is MUCH harder than polyurethene I personally have been using hairspray and it works good
