Has anybody tried Apolonia ZLC with short pips? Is it stiff and hard enough for hitting?

Definitely without a doubt.... it's not as soft as some people say it is...
I smashed, looped, and counter hit easily but for me the straight handle didn't feel as great as the yoshimura flared handle so I switched :P.
Might've liked it in flare handle probably next time though

I tried with Moristo SP, Hammond FA Speed, and Spectol 21.  It is stiff enough to hit and counter.

If the blade works for you it works.
Apolonia has good dwell time but that doesn't disqualify it nor defeat the purpose if you were to use it for anything else
That's like saying a alc blade or carbon blade was meant for offensive style yet I know of hundreds using alc at least for short or long pips games. Blades faster than the apolonia itself.

Just like saying that a certain rubber is meant for backhand...
Just because it has it's lows in some departments doesn't make it any less useful nor for a certain style of play. We're not talking about a 1ply 10mm thick shake hand nor 5 ply garaydia zlc or jun mizutani super zlc for defense.

I'm playing Xiom Zetro Quad with short pimple. I've tried a bunch of other blades, but I always end up back with Zetro Quad. I have a hunch that Apolonia ZLC and ZQ are not so different in feel. Both blades have ZLC layer closer to the core. Although I'm not sure what kind of wood the Apolonia is using for the plys. If anyone actually plays Apolonia ZLC with short pimple let us know please! I've been wanting test it out, but I haven't seen anyone around Saigon playing Apolonia ZLC.

Current Setup: TBS FH T80/BH D80
Official USATT Rating 1815
Current estimated level: 1800-1900.

Zq is much more solid and slightly faster but I was able to produce much more deadly loops with apolonia zlc
The zq was good at blocks and punches loved it. But the apolonia is a bit more forgiving and also not as thick haha

If thats the case, it may be less good with short pimiple than ZQ. Also, I actually find ZQ to be a wonderful looping blade. Do you still have you Apolonia? I have a Butterfly Photino Light if you are intersted in a trade. The Photino Light is in nice condition. Let me know if you want some pics.

It's solid enough for short pips never said it wasn't good. It'd have more deception than the thick zq...since it allows for more flex but it's not a huge noticable ton...

I get deception with intensity nct but its hard to start looping and the ball goes very flat. How is quad?

Intensity is way too light and not hard enough to be using pips for that blade. If you can get a decent 85+ or nice solid blade it's perfect or even heavy lifters 100+ grams lol
Using short pips with zq is fine but I wouldn't use a zq for defensive setup but more for all out attack with short pips. It's very fast and thick to effectively use it as a chopping blade nor 100% defense mode.

My intensity is close to slab of glass regarding stiffness
