Where do you play? I'm always curious about TT clubs in other countries and Italy is pretty high on my list of places to visit (again :) ).

Cool - is there a site that lists all TT clubs in Italy? Or is Google the best option for this?

There isn’t a list of all tt clubs in Italy, but this is the official Italian Table tennis website where you can see ranks etc

I think you should make a compilation video entitled "Beyond the Barriers" highlighting all your over the barrier and back moves.

Seriously, nice play and nice video.  Keep them coming.

Thanks.  I'm curious about the ball situation in Italy.  I assume it is plastic ball (Nittaku, Yinhe, DHS?) for tournament play but how is it in casual club play?

Mainly Xushaofa and Joola Flash for regional tournaments, Stag abs for National Tournaments. For league matches Xushaofa/ Joola Flash/ Nittaku/ Tibhar abs/ Stag Abs / Donic abs / TSP abs

Nice matches! I find it useful to put the players names in the clip so you can search a player in Youtube in case you want to watch more of his games.
This guy Roberto Locatelli seems to have a really tough style to beat. He has no mercy with his smashing forehand.

Don't think it't the smashes that did you in, they derived from the popups after SP pushes.  Pushish these pips and you're likely to fare better| :-)

I used to play that style, pretty much, without the pips.  Sweet when it works, very frustrating once you're derailed.

You look like you're gonna hurt yourself especially against out of reach balls wide to the forehand.  Be careful.

By the way, about the really good smasher Roberto Locatelli, I had a clubmate that had a similar style except both sides inverted.  This guy I would beat most of the time but some days, he absolutely would not miss any smash.  Against loop, push, chop, it did not matter.  Flat hitters, when they are on, watch out.  When they are off, looks really ugly Smile

Thanks for sharing - lots of fun to watch. Smile My main thought after watching you play (take it or leave it), is that you put yourself into defensive situations unnecessarily quite a bit. You have a bit of a tendency to move backwards on your opening loops against underspin, and sometimes even quite a bit backwards after your own serve in anticipation of the 3rd ball. Although you clearly play a very nice defensive game, I think you could be in control offensively of many more points by trying not to retrieve backwards so much on 1st, 2nd and 3rd ball shots.

I love these videos and you are very fun to watch.  The only thing that makes me scratch my head is how come the styles of play look so different from what i see here in the USA.  Here, you either have really odd styles of play (usually people who learned in the USA with minimal or no training), or you have super loopers, most likely trained by Chinese coaches. I just don't see many matches that look like what I see in your videos; it's almost like we're playing different games.

I totally agree.

I love watching these videos. To my untrained eyes the skill-level looks higher.

I seldom see rallies like this in the US. Lots of great skills/touch on display. It's sometimes like GLOCK-pong here, as some have called it. It is not much fun to watch.

Correction to my last post: I watched the video again (a couple of times, actually) and now I know which of you is which.  Just curious: what is Marco's setup?  He certainly has a unique style.

I also figured out one of my other mysteries.  You post as Jack, which I couldn't figure out.  Then I was watching an Italian dective show called (in English) "Thou Shalt Not Kill".  One of the side characters is named Giacomo and in the show they pronounce his name as "Jackomo".  For those of us who don't know any Italian, this helps to understand how you got to Jack.Big smile

Great fun to watch! You guys are so entertaining.  If I played like you, Jack, I'd have broken bones.

And I really can't figure out... is it Marco? Pips, but not just regular long pips.  He seems to be constantly redirecting other people's loops.  I'm scratching my head on him.

Today we played against the best team in b2 division, we lost 5-1.
Sinkevic Viktar is currently ranked around #80 in Italy at 60 years old, he has a monster backhand!
Nevola Emanuele has short pips on his backhand and give us some trouble

So you won the only match for your side?  You looked good in that match.

I thought Marco looked like he was doing well.  He always seems to be in contention to win.  What did you say he uses for FH rubber? It's just such an unusual style.

Hey Jack, your looking very sharp in that video. However, if you're going to keep screaming after every point we're going to change your screen name to Harimoto.

Also, we just finished the Joola North America Teams in Washington DC, which is a team tournament for will ranges of players. It strikes me that you and your teammates would have a lot of fun playing this. Maybe you should consider coming next year.

Last season match before break! We played against Jacopo Facini, one of the players with the best hand and touch in Italy; Dario Fava with short pips (Radical) , and Davide Raviolo a young player very strong

Ok, I've watched the video three times.  I'm impressed, first by when you trip over the barrier, and then when you spin a 360 on the ground.  Oh, year, you played nicely too.LOL
