Should change the FH rubber to something new and fresh.
Looking for a bit more spin and harder sponge.

Currently setup
FH: Stiga Mantra M
BH: Friendship (RITC) 802
Blade: Stiga Clipper Wood

Playing Style:
Plays close to the table, max 0.5m away
FH: a lot of blocking, def game, smashing on both low and high balls, almost no loop games
BH: blocking and puching, placing balls sideways, no smashing
Trains about once a week + match games every two weeks. Have played table tennis for 30+ years

I have checked and read some reviews and believe that one of these should suit me:
Xiom Omega V Asia, Euro, Pro or Tour
Xiom Vega Japan or Pro
Yasaka Rakza 7, 9 or X

Is there any rubber above that you think would suit me?
Or something that will not work at all?
Any other suggestion for rubber?

I will buy the rubber from my local store who can also change it and they have these brands:
Butterfly, Donic, Stiga, Xiom, Yasaka, TSP, DHS, Friendship / 729 and Haifu

Have you tried Mantra H? It sounds like what you are describing.

Try one of the Boost Series from Stiga, perhaps Boost TP (if you can still find it). It has lower throw, which should help with blocking and flat hits both and it is also very powerful with most kind of blades.

Why not try the H version of Mantra instead of a whole different brand?

I don't change rubbers that often and when I do it I can also change brand:)
Before Stiga Mantra M I used Donic Coppa X2 Platin Soft

My Mantra M shrunk by more than 6mm after switching blades. Pretty much useless now.

There are two possible reasons for this happening -
1. The rubber was stretched when it was glued originally. Generally, this can easily be figured out by checking if the rubber has shrunk from all sides evenly or just one or two sides.
2. The rubber came factory tuned by some booster and over time, the booster effect just died out, thus, shrinking the rubbers back to their original pre-tuned size.

Either ways, the best way to tackle this problem is to apply (thin and even) a layer or two of booster on the sponge and then wait for the booster to dry and then reapplying the rubbers to the blade.
That trick has worked for me on every single rubber that I have used (apart from a Globe 999 national that just won't budge anymore).

Which brand of booster do you use? How long does it last?

did anybody else notice massive shrinkage? is it glue-dependent?

I am currently using Falco Tempo Long and the effect lasts for about a month or so, but it is a bit rubber dependent too as I have seen some rubbers get affected for longer periods than 1 month.

I have also used Haifu booster in the past and still have some lying around. Haifu's effect usually lasts for a shorter duration than FTL and is more suited for Chinese rubbers.
