Hi,

I've decided on two of my three votes for the USATT Board of Directors.  I'm voting for Khoa Nguyen and Will Shortz.  Both are very fine table tennis people with all the qualities we need for Board representation.

Thanks.

Is the voting done online, meaning can someone abroad that is a member still vote?

From  https://www.teamusa.org/USA-Table-Tennis/Features/2020/October/16/USATT-BOD-Election" rel="nofollow - https://www.teamusa.org/USA-Table-Tennis/Features/2020/October/16/USATT-BOD-Election :

USATT Adult General Members (age 18 or older) who are currently active and were active members at least sixty days before the Record Date of the election (October 29, 2020) are eligible to vote. An electronic ballot will be sent to each eligible voting member. USATT members are encouraged to contact Headquarters to ensure that the organization has an accurate email address on file.

I've let my membership lapse so I'm not eligible.  I suspect many others in the same boat which is why I think it would have been better to hold the vote sometime in the 1st quarter of 2021.  TBH it doesn't make sense to renew now when I can renew for $25 in January.  Oh well.

I suspect you gave that issue 100% more thought than USATT did.

That is too funny. I live abroad so I wasn't sure if those abroad can still vote, but it seems that we can. Any discussion about the candidates listed?

At Large:
Lee Kondo (don't know him),
Khoa Nguyen (that former player?),
Dan Reynolds (googled him just now and it seems he is an umpire),
Thomas Hu (I have heard of his org AYTTO b/c I have kids and wanted them to get involved)

Club Director:
Wil Shortz (the NY TImes guy)
Mike Babuin (his name is familiar in TT circles)

I have read all of their bio's and I would imagine that we want active board members that will work with everyone.

Not to call out people but it seems some of them put little to zero work in their campaign statements a turn off for me already, but the real question is who has a track record of getting things done in the sport is probably what one should vote for.

My third vote will go for Thomas Hu.  He is a real contributor to our sport in the U.S. and should be supported to extend his influence.

Thanks.
