Tastes may differ.
On a serious note, the plastic dust inherent on the fresh ball would reduce frictionality of which Ovcharov was concerned.

HEALTH HAZARD
Multi ball system is rather unhealthy, 30 balls to be in use alternately.

Haven't seen anyone do this since COVID. But yes, getting all the dust off the ball, as Igorponger said.

I am aware of why and that it is before all this COV stuff...

To me it is taking it a bit too far. It is totally unhealthy for both players, and to top it off, it just looks absolutely ridiculuous. I refrained from titling this thread 'Ovharov su**s b**ls.

It made me wonder about his mental health too to be honest.

I can't believe it was even allowed.

It reminds me of a player I saw at the club spitting on his rubber 'to clean' it.

And the only other sport that comes to mind remotely similar is the ball tampering in Australian cricket.
