My dear fancy Queen. Far superior female-player to all the others owning to her fostering coach Mr. Matsuzaki, most versed one of the sport. Truth to say, Mima is far below her own par, being less agressive attacker, unduly mersiful.

The 4th quarter of the women's draw is extremely tough. It has 4 of the top 9 players in Japan: Hayata, Hirano, Shibata, and Harimoto. I don't know how they determined the draws, but Hayata's #1 national ranking did her no favors. In fact she probably has the toughest pathway out of all of the top players. If all goes to plan, she will likely play the winner of Shibata/Harimoto. If she succeeds, she will likely meet Hirano. Winner goes onto the semi-finals. Matches for top players in singles starts on January 26.

Added "Regulations for Draw Committee" to my last post.
The draw is basically done behind closed doors based on 4 basic principles. Hayata's Zennihon 2022 result is her national ranking, which is 2. Her H2H against Ito comes into play, yet again.
Vindicated? Far from it. Hayata is still the biggest "loser" here. After putting in so much work in 2021, what has she got in return? Her career high ranking is as good as useless if not for the Asian Games which will THEORETICALLY get her an extra 40 pts in the race. The only other times world ranking will come into play are the WTTC 2023 and ATTC 2023. However, by that time(see below quote), her current points will start to expire/have expired. Even then, she will still have to win/finish high in the Paris 2024 Qualifier #4 and/or #5 to earn 1 of the 5 singles spots.

Keep an eye out for Sakura Yokoi. You could argue that she played Miu Hirano the best at the 3rd Paris 2024 Trials just losing 9-11 in the 7th. I don't know how far she'll go in this tournament, but she's in the same quadrant as Mima Ito.

Yokoi squeaks by her opponent. She was nervous for the 1st 2 games and even the 1st half of the 3rd game. But eventually she got her spinny backhand loop in. Fortunate to escape game 5.

Hayata/Harimoto vs Kihara/Shinozuka on Table 4. H/H take the 1st very tense game.

I don't know if she didn't expect the ball to come back, but Kihara seemed slow to react. This forced Shinopi to try to do too much to save the match but led to errors on his part as well. The talent is there, and they showed it in the 1st game. But the mental focus has to match the talent to win against the H/H pair.

The Claw saved two match points in game 4 and came back from 3:5 in game 5. She must have trained with her older sister countless times => she didn't seem to be troubled by the spin variations

JB F MATSUSHIMA Sora 2-3 HAGIWARA Keishi
Poor Matsushima (to the delight of 5ch users) keeps getting denied in the final. 3rd time now. He was stopped by Ryoichi Yoshiyama (Kazuki Yoshiyama's older brother) 2 times in F in 2020 and 2022, and by Shinopi in QF in 2021.

Instep pain in Hirano's right foot some time during this season of T.League but nothing wrong with the bone after a hospital visit and likely fatigue from training.

I wonder if those who signed up for Women's Doubles (Mima/Hina/Double Miyu/Hashimoto/Sato) are going to regret it because there's only about 1/2 hour between doubles and the start of singles, and that's assuming the match doesn't last longer than the average doubles match.

The Zennihon is more than just individual prestige, the pride (along with the budget) of the prefecture where the players are representing is on the line. If they don't play, they'll lose the seeded position next year.

Ito's problem doesn't stop with her record against China. She no longer shows that overwhelming advantage over players from other countries like she did in the last Olympic cycle, whether it be WS or XD. WD is the only event she still has a chance, all because of Hayata, which is why she said she didn't want to play singles anymore at WTTC 2021.
Average age of MS QF: 20.6, with Oikawa being the oldest at 25.

Part of the reason I mentioned earlier to watch out for Sakura Yokoi was because I watched on Youtube a match between her and Kihara in T-League, and although Kihara managed to win, it was really a coin flip as to who would win. I shouldn't get ahead of myself, but there's a good chance these two meet in the semi-finals. The backhand I already mentioned, but Yokoi's overall game is very good.

BTW, Sakura Yokoi is 18 years old. Miwa's star power shines so bright that it's hard to notice any other promising young female player from Japan but they do exist! Watch out for Terusora Matsushima's younger sister, 9 yr old Misora Matsushima. She's going to be really good.

Not just that but she is then around the same age as Kiharaa but wasn't good enough to make the WJTTC. Just tough - but not everyone improves at the same pace and the depth of Japan and Korea can be scary at times (though the Korean women need to do a bit more).

Nagasaki is about as good as this, if I had to say it, it would be the defeat of the Uda/Togami pair. That's why only Ito stands out
Also note that Yokoi, Odo, Omoda (less known, WS R32 0-4 Hayata here), Ishikawa, Shibata, Hashimoto etc, are/were students of 四天王寺高校/Shitennohji High School and currently/formerly affiliated with Miki House. Because of their COVID policy, they all defaulted last year, which means Kihara won the JG event without too much resistance, other than Harimoto.
