Hi all,

I'm looking for a looping blade to suit my big hands. I've tried flared handles in Timo Boll Spirit and Primorac Carbon, but they are too small and flimsy, causing me to hold them too tightly between my thumb and my middle finger, putting straight onto my forearm and elbow.

I've tried an overgrip tape but it doesn't work for me.

Does Viscaria have a fairly big straight handle? How does it compare to the straight handle of Primorac Carbon? Are there any blades with chunky handles you'd recommend?

I have two heavily used Nittaku acoustic carbon outer blades for sale here.  They have the large straight handle which is very chunky.  But those blades are not as fast as a TBS, much less a primo carbon.  Nice feeling though.

I searched a long time for large straight handles.
In my experience Tibhar makes large handles. For me though the solution has been custom blades. I have ordered from Sergio (Hipnotic) a number of times and been very satisfied.

A recommendation is to enlarge not only the handles but the wings and “base” of the blade face as well.

I can verify this. Thumbs Up

For example I own 2 Tibhar Bernadette Szöcs Signature (7,ply, 6,5 mm, Off speed) blades and this handle is very comfy for large hands. In the past I owned the Drinkhall Allround Classic and the Samsonov Force Pro and these handles ver also very nice to hold for me.

What about Tibhar Paul Drinkall Powerspin? Also the flared handle seems quite chunky?

Waldner Offensive (2016 limited edition) works well for me and has a big ST handle. There is the carbon version, too.

What is your absolute preferred blade? Stick to it and...

I never tried covering the handle with double sided tape before adding thin cork on top.

The tape will allow protecting the handle and get it back intact. After doing it once, you can use glue for a second layer of cork if necessary. Using sandpaper, you can get the shape you want. You could finish the work varnishing.

Once I built a 1-ply 10 mm spruce blade and used cork as the handle and the feel was excellent. Cork will dampen the feel to render it homogenous and uniform.

If you try, please let us know how it works for you.
