Here is an infographic about the top ten earners of 2022 in the WTT organized tournaments. Who earned the most? Was it Ma Long, Fan Zhendong or someone else?

I get that it's only a small portion of his income, but when the number one player in the world makes less at WTT tournaments all year ($157K USD) than the prize money of making it to the 4th round of Wimbledon ($238K USD), it's embarrassing for table tennis:

Quote This is why ITTF chief executive Steve Dainton estimates the table tennis industry is worth "billions of dollars" and this untapped potential is also the reason the world governing body created and launched its new commercial vehicle World Table Tennis (WTT) last year.

The Australian told The Straits Times: "Our industry is huge, there are hobby players all over the world who follow the scene... for sure the potential is in the billions of dollars and we are really only scraping at the surface with our current business model."

In table tennis, the money isn't made by playing.  It is made by coaching, running a club or selling equipment.  I do not see that changing any time soon.

I always thought there was a lot of sponsorship money paid to players.
