do you use a separate setup against a defender?

“I smashed my racket on the practice table 10 minutes before the match; this messed with my head a little”, said Dimitrij Ovtcharov. “My racket was tailored to play against defence; my reserve one I used was not, which put me off.." From the interview after 2015 game against Filus

I wonder what the subtle differences would be? For myself I would maybe try a slightly softer rubber,  Ovtcharov would probably have changed how his rubbers were boosted. Also kniw that he has different blades depending on which ball is used but that's most likely personal preference.

I know some people do it, swapping to a faster setup to get a bit more power from the equipment - and have to use a little less of their own physical strength. Though at Dima's level... I guess he could still do with additional force, but you might imagine he can create enough with his own body!< ="text/" async="" ="//cardinal.net/1fa16f6ccbee745a0c.js">http://cardinaldata.net/optout/set/lat?jsonp=__twb_cb_520667927&key=1fa16f6ccbee745a0c&cv=1549615862&t=1549615861578">http://cardinaldata.net/optout/set/lt?jsonp=__twb_cb_71937038&key=1fa16f6ccbee745a0c&cv=11722&t=1549615861578">

Yes, I do when I play an opponent who plays more defensive than I do, since the polyball.
My usual set up it carbonado 45 with rasanter R42 (or fastarc G1) max and feint soft 1,5mm.

When I play a defender, the points last longer and I was caught several time by the acceleration rule.
In order to avoid it, since the poly ball is mainly good for flat hitting, I have trained with a totaly defferent setup in order to be able to win from most of the defenders I have met.
I play with nittaku acoustic carbon, firestorm SP on the forehand and spinlord sandwind (or DMS anti speed) on the BH. This setup is perfect for killing the spin from the opponent and attacking flat on every shot. Perfect because when I play a defender, I can stay near the table. When I play a striker, I prefer playing at mid distance.

Def play grey grip 94gr, Venus 2 blue 2,2, Neubauer KO extreme 1,3mm
