Does anyone know someone (a scientist, researcher, or manufacturer) who knows the details of the materials and science behind the types of woods in blades, or properties of sponges and rubber and how they produce the desired effects?

I'd really like to talk to an expert and learn more.

I believe, here are lots of threads which may help you with all your questions.
I'm a kind of newbie and I have so many questions, but I've already found the answers on almost all of them.

729 Friendship FX blue sponge will satisfy all your needs pretty well.
Be sure you got 1,8 mm sponge mid-thick.

Be happy.
