nah..that would be a waste of your resources i.e. your time, effort, material ( nice An. handle pieces) & $$$ which you don't seem to have. Leave that to Btfly of Japan, I asked them to make me "some" already...

Isn´t it the holy grail of blades for several years already?

I agree due to the fact that there are so many people really hot and keen for the Viscaria ST but personally I think that there are some other models that are even much harder to get.

BTW, sure i knew before it was Boll. And the hair Color was not due to his Age, there was a bad fashion trend in these days in Germany to Change the hair Color into blonde. Hope that trend never Returns, but who knows

Let me show you my little project. My ambition was to equip an old Viscaria FL with a custom ST handle that should have the dimensions of a Maze ST/Mizutani ST handle but the design of the Viscaria handle. (In terms of playing to me the Maze and Mizu ST handles feel great)
In addition I wanted to have a very very gentle "thumb polish".

Therefore an old version Vis FL (1993/96) now got new handle plates. As you can see, the lady has kept her sharpened lense. The weight is ~87g. Here we go:

That's awesome!  Has anyone tried to equip the viscaria with a cpen handle?  taksim was disappointing :/

Taksim'a handle looked a bit like a c-pen Viscaria, but was quite different in construction and playing qualitied.  The middle layer was much thicker and the blade was a lot stiffer.  In a lot of ways Taksim was more like Iolite.

I have owned about ten of them, currently have four.  All of these four are less than two years old, but only one of them plays like an old one.  The fact that you guys have all of these straight ones is amazing.  So hard to find.

OK, Viscaria club...here's a question...

Q - Do the new Viscarias play as well as the old ones?  Is there a consensus on this?  Old ones better...new ones better...the same...

Thank.

I was thinking of letting this old Visc. ST go, either on EBay or here, for 599.99 USD excl. shipping & insurance.
Why do you think, buddy o pal? LOL

Hmmm... tough one. It's obviously a lot of money, so that would probably be nice. But at the same time, selling a blade like that could easily be regretted later.
I guess the question is whether you really need that money or not.

The questions about new ones vs. old ones, I think the main difference is weight, so if you like them heavier, you may prefer older ones.  As with anything else, there is some variation from blade to blade, this was always true, so not all old ones are good and not all new ones are bad, and even a bad Viscaria is still a really fantastic blade.

Vis with T80 did not work for me!

I would go with BF M1 or just reg T05.

Thomasson reporting for duty.

After several ventures to other blades, the "Viscaria" will be my main blade from now on.
Sadly enough I let go 2 of my Viscaria only a year ago, thinking I would never like it.
1 old version with black tag and 1 new version with perfect fish scale Cry
Here is the old version, the new version is in the box you can see.

I needed time with other blades to finally be able to appreciate this blade:

My main blades in what I believe was the correct order:
1: Donic Alpha Slick (Premade) "2004, 1 competition"
2: Donic Appelgren allplay v2 "2004+2005, 3 competitions"
3: Donic Persson Dotec "2006, 1 competition"
4: Butterfly Photino "2006+2007+2008, 5 competitions"
5: Butterfly Timo Boll ALC (a good one, which seems hard to find these days) "2009, 1 competition"
6: Nittaku Acoustic "2009+2010, 3 competitions"
7: Butterfly Mizutani Jun "2011, 1 competition"
6: Nittaku Acoustic "2011+2012, 3 competitions"
8: OSP Virtuoso "2013, 2 competitions"
9: Nittaku Acoustic Carbon "2014, 1 competition"
10: Butterfly Viscaria "2014.."

Please note that every year has 2 seasons/competitions.

I will add the picture of my latest blade when the new rubbers are in!

A junior broke 2100 with this combo.  I wonder about what something not "working" for someone objectively means these days...

I like my ZJK-ALCs, I have two of them, they are very good blades, tried them for a month.  But I still like my favorite Viscaria best.  There is just something, I'm not sure what.  I miss less.

The one with red lines is a first version, special version or line-painted-in-red version ? Big smile

I have an old viscaria side-pinted-in-red version too LOL

I´d say the red one was a mistake in production.
