Wow. Thread from 2007. No wonder the list is what it is. Might as well include Johansson, Grubba and Stipancic.

i grew up learning how to play with sequence photos from the butterfly world report. so growing up, my favorite player was shigeo itoh, a player whose style i tried to emulate as a youngster
then, my favorite player was guo yuehua, because of his relentless style after a hiatus from tt, i became reacquainted with the sport in the late 80s/early 90s then my favorite player were jorgen persson, kim taek soo, and kong linghui my favorite current players are probably fan zhendong and ding ning, but there are so many good players now :) Edited by in2spin - 07/10/2014 at 7:49am |

Personally, I don't think it's only LGL's fault that he is less wild. But, he has won everything. I can understand that he is less hungry than before. Also, he is older and I find than almost all athletes become calmer when they age (impetuosity of the youth... ![]() |

I very much felt the same way about him. Some members at a nearby club said he disrespected the game when he ripped his shirt open but i thought it was a great reaction to his winning in 2011.

I like the Old ZJK. The untamed, ruthless, disrespectful animal that first won the 2011 WTTC. Its been all downhill from there. LGL is turning him into a little girl like Ma Long, and that's killing me. My favorite was his emotions and faces during matches with WLQ and WH. I know when I broke 1500 and for first time beat some old foes I felt (and behaved) very much like this.
Sometimes I still watch those replays. Puts a grin on my face. Hoping to see The Spirit one last time in 2015 but he looks all but dead already.

He Zhi Wen. I like his style. I find it inspirational. On top of that there are a few older Chinese gents that play somewhat the same way around here and they are tough opponents.

Mizutani. I find it extraordinary when he gets into his forehand to forehand looping rallies. His form seems to go up so much which is very strange for me to comprehend. I also love how consistent he is in these rallies and his footwork is just astonishing to watch. It looks like more of a spinny loop than a fast one.

Really just to much talent to choose from. Hats off to Natalia Partyka of Poland for defeating Mie Skov (Denmark) in the 2nd round in London. I admire both of those ladies very much. My favorite player of all time has to be A. Grubba...master of the variable loop and incredible footwork.

1) Werner Schlager- Brilliant serves, also has very good defensive skills (chopping)
2) Kim Taek Soo- Powerful forehand loop and solid jpen backhand. 3) Koji Matsush*ta- Very entertaining when watching him play 4) Kalinikos Kreanga- Uses his backhand like no other.... 5) Vladimir Samsonov- very calm, excellent offense as well as defence |
