Which Waldner blade are you inquiring about? (Banda Waldner, Banda Waldner Light or any of the various Donic blades?)

Indeed, I have the concave handle. It is more rectangular-ish than oval. I like it a lot.

The ST handle is not as round as as the new ones and the handle is much thicker. The old ones have veneer thickness of 5,4 mm. I got one last blade of that old version. The new ones have 5,8 blade thickness, and the handle is very bad, everything nearly of it is bad.

I think it is more of an ALL blade by today's standards with the new 40+ seamless poly-ball. Edited by king_pong - 10/07/2017 at 1:28am |

I wonder what the stats would be on the "Waldner 1987 version brown handle" blade, as pictured in the fourth post of this thread? I started playing again after ~25 years and would like to know "where I am" equipmentwise.
It says Speed 8+ and control 8 on the box but how would that compare to modern blades?

A TT shop here in Greece had once for sale a donic blade which I cry that I didn't buy it at that time...It's name was strange like "Donic carbokev" or "Donic carbokevlar" or something.I saw this in the shop at 2003 or 2004, so I don't know if it is older. Can someone who has this blade, show it please???I am in love so many years with this blade. Please if someone has it, I beg him to post some photos!

Agreed, the Waldner Senso Carbon is close, and I'd suggest the Waldner Senso V1 (i.e. without the carbon) is the closest in feel to the original limba Waldners.

The Dicon is much stiffer than the old Donic Waldner 5-ply. The Dicon is after all rated as "nearly-stiff" on Donic's scale, while Donic's classic Waldner 5-ply is a very elastic blade. I have to concur. My Dicon feels much stiffer my old Donic Waldners. The only resemblance is the wood plies. I think for a modern day equivalent, the Donic Waldner Senso Carbon should be the closest in feel. It is rated as "speed-elastic" on Donic's scale, and it is, after all, the blade Waldner himself chooses to play with and presumably helped in designing for use with the 40mm ball.

Is the Donic Waldner Dicon the only modern day equivalent to these old 5-ply Limba Waldner Banda blades?
What else is out there (besides OSP)? |

First from the Right is the Waldner Light (purple handle). I believe that it is in fact koto.

Do you mean 1st one on 2nd row is KOTO? (I could not read from handle.) Is it The Waldner Light model?

The Donic Waldner is limba (I have the same blade). Though that the most koto-looking limba I've ever laid eyes on The Waldner Light I believe could be koto. I read somewhere that it is "like the 'old OC'", so it may be with koto afterall. Edited by king_pong - 02/16/2014 at 3:52am |

Here is my pre-made mid 90's J.O. Waldner Donic blade... must say it is decent blade, good feeling but bit heavy.
