A Craftman's Hand-made OSP
--- A good Dad's hand-made Table tennis blade---- OSP is a brand originated from Hungary. It's generally regarded by many as the "Rolls-Royle" among all of the hand/custom made t/t brands. It's believed that this OSP brand of blades is very well-known by most t/t equipment enthusiasts around the world. This brand has been around for quite sometime (many years) esp. online stores/websites. What is so special about this brand that people are drawn/attracted to it's mystical playing characteristics? Mr. Robert Palatinus is an Electronic Engineer by trade/profession. He's also a great dad. Mr. Perkosan, a professional blade-maker, who made blade for Robert's son had passed away, and Mr. Palatinus could not find any better/suitable blade, so he decided to custom made blade for his son. After few years of learning & making blades for regular t/t public/players and also later for professional (national) players, his effort began to bear good fruits/results. In the early year of 2000, Robert then had a (sort of) life-changing experience/opportunity to have met a old stiga blades collector, Laszlo Peli, who then started to sell his custom made blades online (on Laszlo's website). The early batch of Palatinus had serial numbers & mine (this author) has a number 130 on it, it means this is the 130th hand-made blade Mr. Palatinus made. My Cpen as shown here has the characteristics of early version of Old Stiga Offensive Wood & I ordered/bought it due to the 1 reason that Older Stiga O.W. didn't have any Cpen version/model. As time went by & due to the need to speeding up manufacturing/making, there are now 6-7 different models. The OSP brand name since then was established. The Musko that I ordered in 2012, has a unique overall look, and the wooden logo/lens were original/new to the market. In 2014 when I started to write/research about Custom made blades. I first came across this Palatinus brandname & after few exchanges with Mr. Palatinus, I raised the issue of it's Cpen handle being a bit too wide/big and not very comfortable, as a result OSP (Mr. Palatinus) then improved/revised on it. The picture of these 3 generations/models show the differences/improvement. The latest ordered models these days would have 2 self-adhered stickies/labels, the owners/buyers could choose whichever they like best/see fit. The last BOLD line, AFTER the video pics., reads: "There are now OSP brand distributors in Hong Kong, China (中国香港), & these models are also now available in some European shops, may be this OSP brand would become one of the major brand in the future." I could later come back to fix some sentences 'cuz I don't quite get ALL the things the original writer actually meant to say... Edited by tiehwen - 07/04/2016 at 11:28am |

The translation above have some mistake. In the 2nd paragraph, "It was years ago that his son who tried to custom-make a blade for Mr. Perkosan, a professional blade-maker, but it was unsuccessful or the result was not good enough (may be?). So it prompted Mr. Palatinus, this good dad, to start learning making blades for his son." It should be "The professional blade-maker, Mr. Perkosan who made blade for Robert's son had passed away, and he could not find any better/suitable blade, so he decided to custom made blade for his son."

In the 4th paragraph, " the product/model numbers would spread/span into 6 - 7 models" the meaning should be "there are now 6-7 different models."

5th paragraph "My Musko Cpen 2012 has a different/unique overall look vs the earlier Palatinus Cpen OC. The handle & its label are different/1st of its kind." It should be "The Musko that I ordered in 2012, has a unique overall look, and the wooden logo/lens were originate/new to the market"

In the 2nd last sentense, "not sure whether this OSP brand would become a BIGGER/Major brand in the future or in years to come." should be "may be this OSP brand would become one of the major brand in the future."

Hello mister Robert Palatinus! I am very pleased to say that i bought used blade that has Palatinus metal tag on it.. I've read much about you and your work, and i'm impressed! My blade handle doesnt have any serial number engraved in it, just a metal tag. It's exactly the same as these "Elrich replica's". Could it be fraud? I doubt, coz craftsmanship is flawless! Here's my "artistic" pic of the blade. Needless to say i was so proud of myself. ![]() PS. i had to buy used one, coz i dont have the money to become owner of fully customized one from your store :). Hopefully that will change when this baby kid grows up! .) Edited by ivanGrozni - 05/18/2018 at 3:02am |

These are just some of my thoughts about OSP blades (Virtuoso - & Virtuoso +) which I've been playing with for 10 yrs +/-... I actually sold off most of my other brands of blades, especially
Butterfly ones which, to be honest, are mostly over-priced, over-rated & over-hyped, BUT not my OSPs (V- & V+). There is
something unique about my OSPs, I've been playing table tennis since
childhood, mid-1970's, with many Btfly blades, Jpens,
Cpens & shake-hands, yet the sensations/feels that OSPs have been
giving me is just beyond words. Not a single high-end blade of other
brands could give me or make me "Forget about whatever blades & Just
play table tennis" kind of feeling! I won't/can't be deceived by the "boring" looks/appearance of any of these OSP blades & I hope 1 day that I can play with this new OSP AC & also the work/workmanship which goes into preparing/making the handle choices is so elaborate & amazing. The An. & STs are so much better than those of my previous Btfly's. We have to try/play with any of these (my choices) to believe "it". Again, just my takes. |

Dear o dear... I honestly can't believe I could see this Ehrlich (How do you pronounce it?) Replica (ST? or something else?). It's sitting right in front of my eyes since last evening. How did it get here so fast? 90g. Craftsmanship is just beyond words. Quality of Wood plies? Damn...so gorgeous! I hope to play this soon, may be after this Pandemic because my club is still closed, I believe... ![]() check out my FS post: Edited by tiehwen - 02/01/2021 at 5:16pm |

This handle looks so cool. I am wondering why no manufactures is making more of them.

IMHO, this Anatomic handle of my OSP V+ is the most comfortable verses those made by other famous brands which I've owned/tried over the years. I think Mr. Palatinus has really perfected his craftsmanship. So nice! Edited by tiehwen - 01/31/2021 at 3:39pm |

Hi everyone, Let me show you a novelty, or rather I haven't seen this on TT blades before. The Colt-pattern handle is both a design feature and a way to reduce slippage. We'll soon find out from the feedbacks how it works... ![]() ![]() |
