Its been a few years since I've trained seriously and trying to get back to it now. Our club still uses celluloid balls so I need to get my own for training and multiball.

Looking to get 60-100 for starters, probably 2* or more as will use them for training/practice matches as well as multiball. Looks like D40 is the most popular, although I've seen many negative comments about them too?

Looking them up on aliexpress there seem to be D40 and D40+, whats the difference, both seem to be plastic? Are there any other good alternatives around the same price/quality ratio?

Also, any recommended stores to buy from to ensure good quality?

For example, $0.50 per 3* D40+ from New-mew shop:

Or similar price from chinese ping pong shop:

D40+ 3* is a good ball. I have ordered several shipments from China via alie. QC can be iffy. Some balls were excellent, some not as good.

I have also bought D40+ from Paddle Palace, all were excellent, but $2/ball.

A better option is the Gambler P40+ 3* ball from zeropong. It's their version of the DHS ball. 36 for $24. QC very good so far.

For D40+ I got quite a bit of egg shaped balls(~20%). Also the weight varied significantly across different batches. From what I was reading on other forums, D40+ sold on Aliexpress are mainly discarded ones which did not pass the QC and rest are used for sale within china mailand.

But can't complain about the pricing. They are quite decent balls.

I usually buy V40+ (one star) from ttnpp. Ok quality for training. Free shipping is also a plus (as I tend to buy 1000-1500 balls)

I don't have an idea about what quality D40+ they stock but I assume it would be the same ones which is found on Aliexpress.

You can try Doublefish V40+ on tnpp, they have slightly better build quality compared D40+
