He came up and popularized them. Never have the commentators immediately before him such as Don Parker and John Burgess come up with any nicknames.

A lot of these are the Chinese national team sorbiquets

He came up with those. Queen of hearts is not used to refer to DN in China. Same for Cloudwalker, Dictator...

China has a different list of nicknames for their players.

I remember LGL once called Xu Xin "Wanderer in the Cloud". Not exactly a compliment but rather teasing because XX's former couch Qin said that his rhythm was too slow, no better than himself retiring at the age of 30. XX just felt slow moving in big distance, but somehow he can manage to return balls with high quality. I believe that is how his nickname came from.

Ya, "雲中漫步" or a walk in the clouds, coined by LGL back in 2009(?), when Qin Zhijian pointed out he was slow.

People in China explain how that morphed into Cloudwalker in part due to Bobrow.

China has a different list of nicknames for their players.

What is this list of chinese nicknames?  The only one I have seen on western fora is little fatty for FZD.  Not so accurate anymore, but nicknames tend to stick.

By the way the old generation females with the homage nicknames are from Japanese fans right?!

The ones referencing Japanese culture like Lin-chan, Hexagon Warrior, Hokage, Great Demon King and many more I didn't list came up around the time of Rio Olympics, after a big crowd of Chinese fangirls flooded in and they're definitely Japanese-inspired.

For real Japanese nicknames, there's another list, mostly from the 8th-grader TV promos.

Clueless Fatty originated from a comment made on the PTT forum in Taiwan during the match between CCA and ZJK at Rio Olympics.
Quote 推 mi2ery      : 中國隊後面£個胖子是官員嗎?看£子整場就他不懂桌 08/08 23:35

(Is that fatty for the Chinese team an official? Looks to me only he's the clueless one here.)

ZYN actually explained her childhood nickname in an interview in Hong Kong when talking how she isn't the brightest among her peers and how her style is not the most tactical.
