The ITTF youtube channel has 378 thousand subscribers.  Pongfinity has 680 thousand and climbing fast.  While ITTF has tried to reduce spin and promote a non spin table tennis (TTX), Pongfinity has far surpassed their subscriber count by focusing on spin.  I believe their around the net side spin shot video really went viral and helped boost their popularity.

ITTF just seems clueless with constant mistakes.  Pongfinity show there's so many ways ITTF could attract attention to the sport without killing spin.

ittv is where the valuable data is. I am sure they have a few email addresses there, surely several 100k given that some events featuring the best are streamed by them only.

I am not sure about the relationship between eurosport and laola but they give something to ittf, it would be fair to say ittf has something to do with them streaming tt?
youtube is a private company, not being big on it does not mean much. It's like saying a worker is not good at what they do because they don't have a linkedin account.

YouTube is owned by Google... Not being big on it is just like not being big at all.

ittf is a federation, not a social media content producer.

how many subscribers does the international tennis federation have? 22.000

football is the biggest sport in the world.
how many subscribers does the fifa channel have? 7.000

Nba is not international, and it's not a federation.
It's a national association.

The equivalent of ittf in basketball would be FIBA.
FIBA has 700.000 subscribers..... Quite a lot for an international federation.

since table tennis is a smaller sport than basketball 370.000 seems right.

You cannot compare Pongfinity and ITTF.

ITTF have to deliver coverage of international events. Pongfinity has time to play around with trickshots and have fun, ITTF are pushing world tour coverage around the clock these days.

ITTF captures the table tennis market. Pongfinity captures the trickshot market. Players are not going to be doing what Pongfinity do in their matches, regardless of what the rules of the sport are - in a match you don't have multiple takes, and professional players are far less likely to take the risk of a potentially 1 in 100 shot.

On the same topic, it's interesting what would be the biggest TT youtube channels in descending order?
1. pongfinity
2. ittf

pongfinity's scope is going beyond table tennis. They reach anybody who can appreciate skill, joy of doing what we do, being together and realize stuff that can't be faked without cgi (which I assume they do not use). The fact they do so consistently over a long period of time adds up to the value of their endeavor. Anybody can subscribe to their channel to laugh while not being remotely connected to the game.

I know baseball players, some who reached the AAA level, who use table tennis to "relax" from their training and they can get pretty good pretty fast, repeating the same mistakes much less that average and acknowledging immediately that they just did when it happens: due to their career they can't invest more time to get better at tt and they'll stay at the 1100-1500 level forever; if they know pongfinity and they laugh at one video, subscribe to the channel to get an email when new stuff is released, does it mean a better grab of table tennis from pongfinity?

there are some Japanese channels that have more subs than ttdaily. WRM for example. One of the best channels out there is probably yunpeng guo. Sadly almost all of his videos are in Chinese. But he also made the videos about a good forehand and backhand that ttlondon stole.

thanks for that. My posting count here means nothing because if we take my bs out, it would go down to 200 spanned over 12 years, just to say the content you share anywhere is always rich and energetic, here or on ittf. I admire you for diving in and live what you want, few people in this world are strong enough to achieve that balance and hardship (at 1st) but they fulfill the socially valid purpose they defined for themselves and it makes them more than human, the little thing that adds up to what we already have and helps adapting to an ever changing environment.
Phew...I just wanted to salute you alive and well, that’s it.
Please keep up with the positive energy, you are precious and acknowledged not enough (which you probably don’t care about), just in case I wanted to underline that people read with pleasure what you write, especially when they know you live and breathe the game fully.
