I was thinking about whether we'll have Nationals in July or not and then I realized... right now, there are a whole bunch of juniors not playing, but probably still getting coaching or practicing at home.  And, of course, with no tournaments their ratings are going to be more out of whack than usual.  We could have 800 rated juniors winning the Under 2200 by July.

I didn't read all posts above. Will US National this year on July be canceled this year?
When US open this year will happen at which city? Texas again?

I am thinking US Nationals might be postponed but not cancelled...if they are to cancel they should cancel the US Open...Nationals should happen every year in each country

emihet is right capable of holding tourneys as large as the nationals (he has held large 4 star tourneys in SoCal) and may do so at some point.. but it isn't coming to that right now.

Since Olympics will be delayed for one year, we can assume there is little chance US National will be held on July. Not sure if coronavirus is gone before July.

The current discussions are deciding to either cancel it or postpone to a later time in the year.

Why not combine Open & Closed at least when things like this  happen.

The best approach is for ITTF to come up with some suggested best practices. I realize each country is different based on many many factors but if you ask me , a combined open & closed for most countries makes more sense. This brings most local talent to watch & learn from some of the best players in the world and also promotes better cultural relations thru table tennis.
