Harimoto, Niwa, Ito and Ishikawa for single

Mizutani and Ito for mixed doubles

Jun Mizutani and Hirano are the 3rd player

=====================================

Agreed on that definitely. Great find 👍 thanks for sharing. The selectors have definitely gone for youth and possibilities along with long playing experience.

Only time will tell but very interesting.

The selection was based on world ranking in January 2020 for the most part.  Had Mizutani played slightly better, it could have been different.  The women's side was more stable throughout the year, though had Hirano qualified as #2, Ishikawa would have had a slightly greater chance of being left off the team altogether.

World ranking is more luck now. You, usually, get more pt if you meet CNT player in the late round DeadDeadDead

WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS
2020 ITTF World Team Table Tennis Championships

Date: 22 to 29 March 2020
Busan, Korea

Busan' WTTC 2020 is when the new Olympic balls DHS DJ40+ will come in play for the first time ever. A Great Solemnity case for the sport of table tennis.
Nobody was given a chance of any sufficient familiarization with those weird balls till the very last moment ... none of the funny laovai 老外] have ever seen those balls .... but the Chinese got privileged anyway, so nice charity starts at home, why not ??

/Be happy/

Again I am behind the times: What is known about these new balls?

Thanks.

I think it is only a better quality D40+ (same as the D40+ with WTTC stamp; YinHe(Galaxy) 40+ vs YinHe(Galaxy) S40+); just ask for more $ Dead

ya, may be JNT knows something we don't know. I thought only the 3rd player or the non-team player can play the mixed doubles

I think the mixed doubles player just needs to be a member of the team.

I thought that, too. But if we're wrong then Liu Shiwen has a shot at all 3 gold medals.

China has been pairing Liu and XX in all sorts of tournaments, which I thought was weird since they really need Liu to play singles, given the state Ding Ning is in. But it would make sense if the rules allow a player to play all three events.

I think the mixed doubles player just needs to be a member of the team.

Correct. Qualifying in mixed doubles does not exclude playing singles too (otherwise quite a few athletes would not want to play mixed...).
