Sure it is posted there and it is quite nebulous.  But if that is the way the USATT wants to go, they are already doing a good job of self-destructing.

Agreed. It's not an objective measurement when you say things like "Factors to be considered -- although without a specific numerical formula -- will include performance and regular participation in national and international competitions, commitment to and participation at the NT program, potential for long-term development, adequate training conditions and environment aligned to international requirements and standards in terms of amount, intensity, consistency and quality, and professional judgments of player potential by the HPD and NT coaches." That is just opinion.

corrected subjective to objective.

Did you mean that it's not an objective measurement?

Something looks very fishy here.  Amy and Crystal didn't even make the U.S. All American Junior Team, only Honorable Mention, and they are picked as first team Adult World Championships team members by the very same organization that made both selections?

Has there been any recent concern expressed about this organization?

Thanks.

The All-American Honors were simply recognition awards for results based on performances in the US Youth National Ranking Tournaments and the US Nationals, they were entirely based on points acquired across 2019 by Youth players, there were no 'selections' made in that case, it was purely upon the players as to whether they participated and achieved results in those ranking events. Hope that clarifies for you.

BTW, in case people are wondering about Liu Juan or Zhou Xin or other recent citizens, they're not eligible for Worlds.

Have trials once a year.  Then for every tournament that requires a national team like the world championship, then the people who place highest in the trials go.  For normal ITTF events like singles competitions, then whoever wants to go can go.

Or we can have teams picked by a group of people who were forced to resign because of financial and other irregularities.

I myself prefer trials once a year.

Based on ranking tournament results, these are actually the top 4 eligible players. I could be wrong but I think  so from memory.

if the top 4 from the rankings tournaments make the team, I have no objection.  That seems a very clear and fair criterion.  However the selection rules are way more complicated and unclear as to whom makes the team and why.

I agree with with teams except for Nick Tio. Isn’t Tom Feng eligible and didn’t he place higher at the ranking tournament?

There wasn't just one.  Kai Zhang might be the odd animal.

Nick Tio is a professional player.

Kai Zhang is a professional player.

Sharon is not a professional player.

Tom Feng is not a professional player.

Knowing something about the thinking of some involved here, I believe this is a factor.

Thanks.
