Site is now up and running. New structure for world tournaments from 2021 onwards. The structure, as explained, is still a bit confusing but it looks like these are replacing the World Tour events, while "Grand Smashes" are replacing the World Championships, and the "WTT Cup Finals" replaces the World Cup or ITTF Grand Finals.

I hope they do not kill the WTTC singles every other year, this is kind of an institution in our tt culture.

This is the best ever development in table tennis - I'm fully in support of this. No more bullshit like Ma Long not able to participate in the 2012 Olympic singles or Fan Zhendong not able to participate in the 2016 Olympic singles, and pro players like ZJK only playing serious once every 2 years in the World Championships and treating pro tours like trash.

The World Championships should indeed be replaced by the Grand Smashes as we need to replace the scarcity mindset of major titles. World Championships being held every 2 years makes it such a bizarre luck based system whereby someone's professional success depends solely on luck, ie the draw, or being in form at a particular time, rather than consistency of titles throughout a career....

The Olympics is fine, it just shouldn't occupy such a huge space in a pro TT player's barometer of success. For eg tennis, basketball, football, none of them share the same view of Olympic success compared to TT.

So this system of increasing the number of majors to 4 per year (compared to 3 majors ie Olympics and 2 WTTC every 4 years) is a huge step to deemphasize the importance of the Olympics.

It has already been said that this is the plan.

I see your point I just don't agree with you saying that winning one huge event is based on luck. Because before hand everybody knows it's the most important one. Which makes regular succesful players more nervous and outsiders more dangerous this doesn't mean it's all luck and depending on the draw. If someone is truly the best they will win this event.

this is great news, thanks, early bets are the best and cheapest and it could go a long way if we hang on to it, any more info about it?

SHEER FOLLIES.
Sorry to say, all the lower-rated and younger players would be debarred from the WTT CIRQUITS. Much like Ziegfeld FollIes.
