I have noticed that the relatively stiff blades I have tried out of the box such as the joo sae hyuk or the dr neuerbauer world champion carbon blades have very good reversal for chopping from close, mid, and long  range with OX grass dtecs , BUT have a dramatic decrease in stiffness and spin on chops after only a few hours of play.

Is the way around this to chop with the absolutely stiffest blades such as the sardius ? (i have the touch to control fast blades)

Is there a chemical i can apply to the wood before using it to keep it stiff for chopping?

Thanks for your advice

A few hours of play results in dramatic changes in the wood!?

I must not be very sensitive to that sort of thing... I play with the same blade for months, and if it still makes a CLUNK sound, good enough for me. I also use d.tecs OX and can't say I've ever noticed this. I know some people using the same sheet of d.tecs on their blade for like 5 years!

I'm one of them! I try other sheets but always go back to the old worn DTecs sheets (and Dornenglanz but it rarely gets old...it just loses pips and hits the bin). As for the blade, I like stiff blades as well but again, I've had the same Labyrinthos for 5 or more years and its been slathered with hundreds of layers of all kinds of glue and still plays stiff as you like. Or more likely I've become used to the gradual softening of the outer ply. The stiffness of the blade stays the same, however. And I guess I just chop block more to compensate?

Perhaps its a case of you getting used to the feel of the blade over a couple of hours and it therefore feels 'softer'; or a case of your opponents getting used to the level of spin and therefor more consistent with their returns? But blades don't, I wouldn't think, change their characteristics so quickly as that. Sure, no one would pay the money for them if they did. Humidity in the hall maybe, making the setup feel less stiff? A stiffer blade won't solve the problem, I don't think. Good luck in your search!

The opposition gets used to you and makes adjustments
I notice this in a warm up where the other player cannot even return the ball
then later they are not doing the same mistakes
