If you could go to either the nationals or the world championships in Houston but can't go to both, which event would you choose? my answer is obvious but what is yours?

World Champs
They say there's no "I" in team. For the top Austrian tennis player, however, there is an "I" in Thiem.

Score so far:

WS: 2
Nationals: 0

Would I ever deserve seeing top 10 players battling it out if I miss that opportunity? Big smile

World Championships.

But, I have not seen anything about spectators or hotels yet at the Worlds.

3-0

By the time November comes I expect COVID under control, I am (or don’t want to) not expecting new waves again, we’ve got this now that we finally got the vax ball to roll.

this thread seems disrespectful to be honest.
comparing world championships with the nationals of a small tt nation.
I doubt there would be a top 100 ittf player in those nationals.... whereas world championships most competitors are top 200.

Keep in mind that choosing Nationals (for USA players) has the benefit of competing in addition to spectating, whereas the world champs you can only spectate.

there's probably 20 local tournaments a year you can play.
you can go to nationals every single year.
world championships is a once in a lifetime thing.
it's not like you live in germany where they play almost every year.

personally I never got the big fuss about nationals.
I'd rather play a local unknown tournament.

I am begging the nationals to forgive me for my unacceptable lack of respect.

I went to watch the World Championships in Dusseldorf in 2017.  One of the best things I ever did.  I didn't stay for the whole thing, I saw two days worth of early rounds, still got to see all my favorite players.  Until you see these people in person it is impossible to appreciate how good they really are.  I realized after that that video doesn't do them justice.

It's in the US this year, go if you possibly can.  Houston is pretty easy to get to, lots of flights, it's a huge city so it's not going to be a problem for you to find a hotel etc.

The count is coming from my older 999 that I glued upside down in an attempt to try long pips on the cheap, isn't that evil?

Dumb question time. Is it the team event or individual?

P.S. World championships, totally.

I remember going to the World Doubles Championships in Vegas back in the 80’s. Seeing the players in person and getting their autographs was amazing.

Is there any info online like tickets etc.? Googling seems to always take me back to ITTF which has no real details.

I remember the Mazunov brothers lost in the final.

Thanks.
