Ito 4-2 Hirano
The first and last points of G6 sum up Ito's journey in Zagreb - luck from start to finish, especially her draw, Szocs taking out Yuan Jia Nan, not meeting a CNT player...and so on. The only challenge before the final was an off-form/washed-up CIC.
Viscaria FL - 91g

= 184.8g

Congratulations to Mima Ito!  She's had a rough start to the year but reclaims her winning ways.  Also, congratulations to Miu Hirano for making the finals and should be in top 30 on Tuesday's list.

Nagasaki vs Mittelham
0-2, 1-2, 1-3, 3-3
G7, 0:5, 2:5, 2:6, 4:6, TO for Mittelham, 4:8, 5:8, 5:9, 6:9, 6:10, 7:10, 7:11

Very disappointing final for Nagasaki. Same old problem. She has the tools. It comes down to how she uses them.

The poor receiving has been a bother the entire tournament and Mittleham didn't receive well, either. But in this match, Nagasaki still kept on ripping every ball to her BH on the rise close to the table even after tons of misses when Mittelham kept sending deep shots after deep shots her way. All she needed to do was take a step or two back and wait for the ball to rise some more and use the FH to loop it, but nope. She just had to do it her way.

Not related to this thread, but I thought I'd mention Miyu hopped on a jet to attend the WTT Feeder in Otocec, Slovenia.  She will be joining her compatriots Miu Hirano, Haruna Ojio, Hitomi Sato, and Miwa Harimoto.

Yes, congrats to Qiu Dang for making top 10.

On the women's side, Mima and Hina switch places.  Han Ying moves up a couple spots.  Nina Mittelham moves into the top 10 right behind Han Ying.  I haven't done all the calculations of the players, but Miu Hirano should land around 26.  Adriana hangs onto a top 10 spot by a thread.  Hard to keep that spot with players like Miu Hirano and Miyuu Kihara on the chase.  Also, she'll have to fend off Bruna Takahashi who made the SF in Lima.  Bruna should move up to around 16.

Edit: Forgot to mention Miyu Nagasaki should end up around 48 for making the Finals in Lima.  Although she has a lot of work to do, still have to remember she beat both Adriana Diaz and Barbora Balazova.  But being on the JNT comes with very high expectations.

Diaz and the African players got plenty points thanks to the continent cups and championships and the lack of real competitors while, in the same time, winning the Asian cup or the Asian championship is really hard but....give the same points than the African or American cup.....
To me, Diaz is woth n°30 and Goda is worth n°150...only my opinion.

was it about Harimoto in the thread where it is theorized that looking for more power here made him lose quickness, recovery and footwork there?

Yeah WTT please keep this angle, the previous "umpire angle" was just so bad that I stopped watching for the most part.

But why is it on "Mute"? Can we hear the sound of the ball?

In distilling this case, more painful it becomes in the context of the noteworthy and praise-worthy progress of her two top Pan American competitors, Adrianna Diaz and Bruna Takahashi, during the same time period cited above.  Both have augmented their games to a higher standard, intelligent and consciously-directed processes of sophisticated advancement that is evident in their improved play, including matches against Lily.  While both of their backgrounds are, in table tennis terms, more modest than Lily's, their qualities of dedication and commitment, attributes of all true professionals, have demonstrated the source of the growing separation from Lily.

In current and future discussions of those rising in the Women's ranks, those great performers that catch our eye, Adrianna and Bruna must be part of the conversation.  Lily is not.

Thanks.

Hi,

The Xiang vs Harimoto match in the 8th demonstrates that Miwa's father is correct in his assessment of Miwa's brother's forehand/backhand employment structure.

Thanks.

Maybe Kanak is going the route of playing in Europe instead of USATT nationals to not suffer the same fate...just maybe.

I think that match also showed that Harimoto is finding realistic solutions to the problem given the structure of the points.  His forehand play and his away from the table game continues to improve.

Harimoto's play was rock' n' roll in this tournament!  I don't think anybody outside China can beat him.  He was very strong.

Thanks.
