Kuai Man and Miu Hirano are in opposite halves of the main draw.  That's the match up I want and expect to see in the Finals.  Miwa Harimoto's progress will also be interesting to watch. She just turned 14 and is already scary good.

On the men's side, Gacina is a very worthy top seed after winning the 2022 WTT Star Contender Doha.  Let's see if he can continue.

So many defenders in the third quarter, lucky for Kuai Man.

A way stronger top half. Can't wait to see Kim Hayeong and potentially Kim Nayeong against Chen Yi.

Kim Hayeong wins 4-1 over Chen Yi! The Kim [N|H]ayeongs can claim wins over new generation Chinese players.

Kim Hayeong = Li Yiran, former CNT junior team.

Quote Tough times ahead for Kuai Man(2004/2/7) and Chen Yi(2004/8/24), who are both turning 18. With just a little over 2 years left, it's safe to say they have no place for Paris 2024. And not making the Paris 2024 means their chances of playing in Los Angeles 2028 is practically zero unless something happens to WMY and SYS.

WR68 vs unranked, just about what you would expect. LSH beat LGY 4-2 at China Open 2017.

R16
Matelova/Balazova 3-0 JJH/Kim Nayeong
With a QF finish last week(0-3 Polcanova/Szocs, 1:11 in last game), it seems Kim Nayeong doesn't excel at doubles.

An Jaehyun's meeting Chinese lefty penhold player liang guodong as next match. Won't be an easy match for him.

Alamiyan arguing over the roundness of ball with the ump is so funny.

Top seed Hana Matelova loses 1-4 to Qin Yuxuan.  I wondered how Matelova is ranked so high when she could not sustain a rally with Qin who I don't think particularly played that great.  It looks like Matelova was able to peak at the one Contender tournament where mostly Europeans showed up... the 2021 WTT Contender Tunis where she won it.

This ranking is simple......you are n° 250 in the world, you go to the semi or final of a contender and next week, you are n°30 in the world......
If you are a African or a South American player for instance, you can also be ranked in the top 50 while your level is between 150 and 200....

An Jaehyun beats Chinese lefty penhold player liang guodong 4-2. He'll be meeting his friend and korean team mate Cho daeseong if Cho wins the current match with Vitor Ishiy. It'll be an interesting match if an and cho meets in another round.

Who doesn't like BO7 for singles?

When was the last time China had less surviving women than men after 3 rounds?

Habesohn cannot find his backhand opening, off, edge of the racket, spraying the ball everywhere.

Yes, I was puzzled by Hana Matelova's *singles* ranking Wink.  It is what it is, but I just found it surprising until I saw the mostly European 2021 WTT Contender Tunis.

Ojio's game is so disruptive that even Sato can't cope with it.

Yay! I'm happy for Haruna Ojio.  Her game is much more dynamic than Sato's.  She transitions from defensive chop to attacking sidespin chop seamlessly and is braver in her attacks.

New rule: Touching the table during your service motion should be illegal. Players are putting their sweaty forearm on the table, the arm holding the ball, constantly.

Togami keeps playing to LSD's backhand. Has he done any homework or he just believes that he can beat LSD on the backhand?

You know what Togami is lacking the most? TT quotient. He has the skills but not the brain to get him through a winnable match. It has happened time and time again.

Not a single JNT player in the MS QF.
