As for the final, Hirano is among the "worst" against defenders, so Ojio stands a chance here if she can manage to disrupt the flow and get a head start.

2021 did exist and Sato participated. Sato did well against a ready to retire Ding Ning. But she's also lost *twice* to Shin Yubin (who Ojio beat) at the 2021 ATTC and 2021 WTT Star Contender Doha II. She's also lost to Lee Zion (who Ojio beat in this tournament) at the 2020 German Open and Kim Nayeong at the 2022 WTT Contender Zagreb. And with Ojio now having beaten China's top junior it's clear she is improving. To be fair, Sato has had success years ago when she was the Chellenge queen, but it's time to give other defenders (Ojio, Hashimoto) chances to play internationally.

The result of having TT in elementary school age already. Start at early grades, then you will get the reward.

Only one I know of is the Japan Table Tennis League Big Tournament she won on Apr 23, 2022 over Keika Song in the finals .... I could be wrong, but I think she was the only JNT or JNT candidate player.

Agreed, Zapenholder. The only difference is these kids are already playing senior international competition for Japan at only 13, 14 year old. Case in point: The Harimoto siblings.

It's not just about her pips. Professor against Defense Mima Ito is very good about controlling the length of her FH topspin. Congrats to Miu for pulling through, and congrats to Haruna for a fantastic tournament taking down Kuai Man along the way.

Are you seriously comparing Hirano with Zhang An? How many choppers has the latter defeated? Ito and Hirano/Hayata are similar to MLin/WLQ in terms of FH(Q: Who has the most powerful forehand), where the former is best technique-wise, and the latter is best fundamental-wise. Qatar Open 2009 was right before WTTC 2009. Forever I've been in awe of the Japanese system for their development of girls and women. Outside the god-like Chinese, there is no comparison with other countries (or continents). Their new professional league was started, as stated a number of times by the creators, as an attempt to take the one last step: to be at the Chinese level. They have a chance; for sure they have a chance at this goal which is at a degree of difficulty higher than of any that is imaginable in sport. While already astronomical, they need to get to the galaxy station. I'm rooting for them and hold the highest appreciation for their current status and future prospects. This dynamic over the next several years will be among the most intriguing to watch closely. We have nothing like it at the system's level in our sport, as we are limited in excitement generation to the occasional shooting star like Truls to ponder the possibilities. As it is somewhat interesting to see, for instance, which of the European Men's team is the best in Europe, nothing holds the richness for attention and intrigue as the Japanese women's train picking up steam. The youngness of an Ito and a Hirano is easy to mis-perceive as they have been visible to us for some considerable time. They represent a lead with oh so much talent thundering forward closely in their wake. In a quintessentially individual sport such as table tennis, to have before us in the years to come this a most privileged seat, one guaranteed to bring forth the best the sport has to offer, of battles with a nation-to-nation flavor, a privilege of viewing to be cherished.
