I still support WTT trying to emulate the tennis atp/wta system but I wish they do it with less bling-bling and favor a approach that makes us think whatever they do is here to stay forever.

I'm really happy with how WTT is presenting the pro events.  I wanted to watch a first round WS qualifier from Dusseldorf Feeder yesterday and they had a decent livestream from every table.  Little things like that are important imo.

I've been here for a little while and the forum has certainly slowed down somewhat.

You do see hot women with ugly guys all the time.
So nothing is really impossible

But those guys have more than a $50 budget.

Funny, that's what the about.com folks used to say about his forum 15 years ago.  I guess forums age like sunday school classes. People just stay in one and age together

we are still here brother

I second liulin, time is a bit more spread out. I also think a lot more players are spending more time playing.

On a different angle/perspective,

I also think it is TT manufacturers with increase in prices. It’s a great time to play TT but rubbers costing just as much as blades really dented forum posts IMHO.

Also, it’s been years now. There’s lots of good information on our forum to lead members to better purchases etc.

It’s just the pioneers and the reviewers and of course the EJs that are here posting.

I do agree, I do miss seeing new reviews left and right.
I am a total Newb. Come at me!

Been here since 2003 (registered in 2004) and I do not find the forum dead. A little less traffic maybe but not dead.

Still an active member since 10/20/2003.  I believe I'm still one of the very OGs when this forum first came into existence.  I don't visit as much now primarily because that I have more important things to do.  Back then I was a young lad going through high school and college, so I had plenty of time to spend on here.  But now with everything taking more precedence than TT such as family, career, health, economy, etc., I guess most people just decide to move on, or not participate as frequent as they did before.

I have had enough with people like the copy and paste merchant, Tom and Mykonos. Totally waste of time to have discussion with these guys. See you guys in 10 years.

90% of discussion is equipment recommendations, Butterfly alternatives, and weird obsessive hate for WCT and Harimoto, with constant in-fighting between members of the forum with axes to grind.

I get that there is only so much that can be discussed over time with table tennis, but, with the above being said, it doesn't take a genius to figure out why some people stop participating and many just stop even checking in entirely.

Another factor is WTT taking over and proposing a different format, many may have a hard time to adapt to the new system, I know that I felt more comfortable before and that if WTT's efforts are remarkable in terms of bringing in new blood, they leave some people behind too. Us table tennis players are very resisting to change. The nature of the game is that the smallest change may destroy a game developed over years! look at the diameter of the ball increasing and then its passage to plastic, the uproar was incredible. Then the glue ban and the advent of boosters... those changes weren't bigger than what WTT brought.

We forget that table tennis is a ninja or kung fu like game, there is an important spiritual side to it and WTT's attempt to make it something closer to a reality show may have lost a few players. Those are still around, they are just less visible.

I still support WTT trying to emulate the tennis atp/wta system but I wish they do it with less bling-bling and favor a approach that makes us think whatever they do is here to stay forever.

Covid really kicked table tennis in the belly in the last 2 years after our friendly rivals at TTD had already grabbed traffic. It was expected and now it is a very slow rebuild process but I am confident: do you remember when Apple stock was $7? it went up over $600 because great companies do not die, thanks to the hardcore faithful people who never switched. Same here!!! Tongue

People get older.  Some move and some likely stop playing and following TT.  Life is like that.

Lots of posting during an international tournament, then it dies down. We are in a lull at the moment.
