Not surprised injuries are starting to occur. SYB has been playing non stop.

Quote 8.1.4 Except in WTT events, opposing players and pairs must wear shirts of different colours. The
umpire must resolve any question in this regard before the players start their practice period
and, preferably, at the Call Area.

If the receiver stalks, it is the umpire's responsibility to issue a warning/yellow card to the receiver for time wasting. The problem right now is that umpires/WTT do not enforce any rule. No enforcement on colors of shirts for both sides, no call for any hidden serve...

Personally I don't like my opponent quickly serves to me when I just bend down and have not gotten into the mode for receiving.

I think ITTF has to make the rules around this more objective.  It was clearly a strategy to counter Felix rhythm and it is a valid one given Felix pace of play. But the rules need to be clearer so that both parties know what they are working with.  Ma Long has always tried to slow the pace down when he is not playing well and he needs it even more as he ages.

Most players will only serve when the receivers are ready. But the Lebrun brothers are always there ready to serve before the receivers even bend down. I did not see ML stalk that much in this match.
He only delayed him from serving as fast as he wanted ONCE in a set that ended 11-2, but people are crying. It's funny.

That is one interpretation, there are others.  It wasn't the first time Ma Long held up his hand to prevent Felix from serving.  And you don't always get to see both players during every point.  As someone who was accused of quick serving quite a bit a few years back, I am 100% sympathetic with the Lebruns on this and think rules that make the flow more objective should be established.
11 - 2 not 6-5 or 7-5 in the lead then overturned.

I find serving when the opponent isn't ready ridiculously rude and unsportsmanlike.  If someone needs a second or two to compose themself then so be it.  If the server gets to dictate when the point starts and the receiver has no say in the matter, soon we will see players rushing to the table and serving when their opponent is still feet away.  Once the receiver is ready, then and only then should the server serve.  On the other hand, once the receiver is in the ready position, that is it.  They should be ready to receive.  This nonsense doesn't happen in tennis.

By the definition of choking, no. He never had the lead in G5 like when he played HZW. This was only the 2nd time he reached the MS SF after WTT SCT Goa 2023, where he got his ass handed to him by LSD. He did extremely well this time around, getting the MD title and going the distance with ML on the 2nd encounter and in China, apparently unaffected by the altitude and jet lag.

Felix was deflating right after each game he won. We can tell he is building up though. At some point he'll be able to seal the deal. Obviousy the mental it takes to beat ML today was there, just not long enough, like 2 games in a row. Seeing him dominating in the 4th only to flatten horribly in the 5th was sad but it's no big deal, we know he's got it all and he is on his way there, he just needs a bit more time.

Does the 5th game count as Felix choking? I am curious about how people see that last game from a mental standpoint.

It is not about what most people do, there is absolutely no reason why the receiver shouldn't be ready once the umpire has declared the point ready to begin.  The server should be allowed to serve once the umpire has established that, the receiver shouldn't be determining when the server can or should serve.

The serve rules need to be totally revamped.  I feel that WCQ contacts the ball over the table quite frequently.  Lots of the pros are hiding their serves.  Some are just blatantly serving illegally and not getting called.  In some sports the attitude is "If you aren't cheating, you aren't trying hard enough" and table tennis definitely fits in that category.

WCQ has became the public enemy of TieBa because of his hidden serves, fans, and behavior. Obviously, ZQH and LGY almost gave up playing at the end of their matches against WCQ.

How many times did Ma wipe his hand on the table? At least 50, more likely 100. Why do the rules makers allow a player to wipe his hand on the table? It should never be done. The table is not a towel.

Ma Long manages so well the stress.
Unbelievable results again....when you see the opposition (all the CNT except FZD), especially at 34 Y/O (nearly 35)

Hina Hayata posted on Instagram before leaving Lanzhou-

“Thank you very much to everyone in Lanzhou for your support and at the Asian Games. Despite being in an unfamiliar environment at the Asian Games, each and every athlete helped each other and thanks to their cooperation, they were able to win a team silver medal and a singles silver medal. The players usually compete as rivals, but they always practiced together, picked up the ball for me, and cheered me on until the end, whether it was in team games or singles. Thanks to the cooperation of the four of us, it was an unforgettable tournament.

However, I went into the Lanzhou tournament without feeling the aftereffects of that experience, and there were parts of me that struggled to adapt, especially in singles, and I must reflect on both the results and the content.

I knew from the beginning that it would be this schedule, and I was determined to participate and I made the choice myself, so the results at the Asian Games and Lanzhou results are all based on my own ability.

I think - No matter what you say, the past will not change. However, I felt that this experience would make me even stronger and allow me to grow. No matter what the reason, no matter what happens, the winner wins in the end. That’s strength.

That's why there is still so much work to do. I'm sure there will be many painful experiences in the future, but I want to learn from each experience, understand myself at that time, and do my best to become a more fulfilled person by Paris.

My thoughts - The tournaments will continue in Oman, Turkey, and Frankfurt, but first of all, don't lose sight of yourself and try not to repeat these mistakes. I'll do my best.

It's been a while since I wrote a long post, but thank you to everyone who read this far. I don't usually post much, and I get confused about what to post, so I rarely post, but I'd be happy if you could wait patiently.

I think this Asian Games was an opportunity for many people to learn about us. Even in Lanzhou, many people called my name and cheered me on. I am truly grateful and I am filled with joy. We will continue to do our best to convey the joy of table tennis to everyone who supports us and to repay them with results, so we appreciate your continued support.

Make a choice you won't regret. Cherish every day.”
