The method helps you keeping your elbow in front of the body. It's intriguing, I am not sure where we are coming from if we have to do this. The dude has a good form so we might think "Oh great!" right away. Is that Broomstick Elbow Fix relevant to sorcery apprenticeship? |

I wonder if it was the most boring post ever or if people liked it and even did it at home but won't post their thoughts and results.
So... to all elbow forward shadow loopers: get out of the closet and tells us how it felt to practice that broomstick thing. I am thinking of a telescopic device so it's easier to store when I am on the go and need to shadow practice in the mountains. This should cut it for example: https://www.amazon.com/Entrepots-Collapsible-Retractable-Expandable-Extendable/dp/B093NBKPZL/ Edited by stiltt - 11/05/2023 at 11:01am |

I do the opposite of the elbow positioning. Instead of the elbow pointing down and close to the ribs I require my students to have the elbow pointed diagonally downwards to the back and at least 6-8 inches of distance between the elbow and the ribs. This is to encourage brushing the balls at the top and also brushing forward instead of hitting flat.

Yeah, I’m puzzled as to why one would want to keep one’s elbow so close to and in front of the body? I always get my elbow at the same level as my body in the backswing and then extend it a few inches away from the body during the forward swing if possible. See Ma Long doing the same thing at 2:45 mark. |

Yeah Ma long does that but I do not think it is for everybody also Ma Long's elbow is not as close to the rib compared to the one in the video with the broomstick.
