Looking forward to the Joola teams tournament next week in Washington, D.C. Will there be a group of roving umpires available for matches? Last year, there was a very unpleasant experience with a player on a certain team. It was pretty obvious that the player was cheating, that too several times. One instance can be excused, I suppose, not 3 or 4. The ball missed the table twice by about 60cm, almost 2 feet. And the player claimed it touched. I'm basically non argumentative on this sort of thing, I cannot argue about table tennis points for more than 5 seconds. So I let it go. But this time, would not want a repeat of this. There was another point where the player called a let on a serve( though it wasn't a let) after a rally was finished. Plus one or two other instances of claiming lack of readiness etc. Also, when teammates are depending on you to win the decisive match-it was the 9th in the team tie- you can't be too lenient. Umpires would be very helpful here! Speaking of that tournament, who are the top teams this year?

I’m curious to know about this question too. Past two years I’ve personally haven’t had the problem but nonetheless would like to be prepared for these kind of situations.
I had an issue once with a let service that I raised my hand before the point ended but I wasn’t vocal about it. I always record my matches and asked the opp to do a video review with me and he agreed, but it was too hard to tell. I always recommend recording your matches, especially when someone argues edge balls out or not. I’ll see whoever is attending there! Say hi if you see me.

I did have one instance last year where one player smashed the ball for a winner but moved the table in the process while the ball was still in the air for me to attempt at retrieving -- despite not being able to get it back on the table, my teammates argued for my point because my opponent moved the table
In the end, we went to my video and he did indeed move the table so it was my point, pretty pivotal too because I only managed to beat him in the 5th set with a 2-point margin. +1 for videoing your matches

It always amazes me when tt players in competitive events want to get a point dishonestly. The player moving the table during a rally should own up to it and know the rules and be sportsman-like to give up the point without a argument hassle.
