Hello.
I am looking for a spinny rubber for Backhand with a lot control and without catapult.
Could you reccomend me some options?

At now I play with Nittaky Piecea [5-ply hinoki], FH: Nittaku Sieger PK50, BH: Andro Hexer Grip SFX.
I really like my blade and FH rubber, but I still want a little bit faster rubber for my BH.

I'm thinking about replacing Andro with Nittaku Fastarc G-1, but maybe there are better options.
What do you think?

Thanks in advance for any reccomendation.

Nittaku Hurricane 3 Turbo Blue. It gives a lot of control.

Thanks a lot TT newbie.
I was considering rather not so hard sponges <50,
but it is an interesting proposition.
Can you say something about the catapult effect this rubber has?

Reading your post I kept in mind G-1 but you finally told that would like something better :)

Btw - G-1 though really well controllable - still has some catapult effect.

By "better" what do you mean - more linear less catapult or what?

I'm "old school" so I don't really like the catapult effect -
I definitely prefer to be able to control the strength and direction of my strikes entirely by myself.

And what I mean by "better rubber"?

My perfect rubber would be:
Control - highest as possible,
Spin - highest as possible,
Speed - moderate,
Catapult - none,
Hardness - between 44-48 degree,
Sensitivity to incoming rotation - low.

If you pick a rubber that generates highest spin possible it probably will be sensitive to incoming spin.

BTW, about Hurricane Turbo Blue, it is the rubber with hardest sponge available in the market. And when you combine this with a tacky surface the catapult effect is near to zero.
But of course it is sensitive to spin, not to mention heavy as hell.

Thanks for suggestion, I hadn't considered them before. It could be really good solution for me...

In addition to G-1, I previously also considered:
Nittaku Hammond Z2,
Nittaku Alhelg,
Donic Barracuda,
Joola Rhyzm-P.

AndroC48, even though I have only played with C53, but it seems to tick your boxes (I don't agree with your characterization of catapult as I am sure most modern sponges have it, including your current BH rubber)

I know that general rule...
However, there are usually exceptions to everything :)
For example, my Nittaku Sieger PK50 can create a lot of spin and at the same time is not too sensitive to incoming rotation.

I have not had the opportunity to try many rubbers in practice, hence the question for you.

[excuse my english, I know it is not the best...]

Thanks for suggestion of Andro C48.

Regarding my current BH rubber:
I really like the spin generates by Andro Hexer Grip SFX, but probably because my imperfest technique, it has a little too much catapult for me.

ok maybe a H3 37% then, but it won't be faster

Yes, try those classic rubbers. Most of the modern rubbers today will have lots of catapult and not much controls

I would advice you not so popular solution - use g-1 but in 1.8mm width.
IMHO it satisfies all that you enumerated.

You might like the XIOM Vega X. It has a relatively soft top sheet which is more elastic than many other ESN medium hard rubbers and a controlled top end speed. It makes it easier to loop underspin balls on the backhand. The other rubber which is also good at this but is even faster is the Nittaku  Hammond Z2.

You are right. I am closest to this option at now.

However, I want to consider other options too. I have not taken into account for example these recommended Butterfly or Andro C series rubbers so far.

Maybe I'll get a chance to try them at table.

I'm not too sure about the Xiom rubbers. I played with a few of them [Musa, Tau, Omega IV] and none suited to me.

I have tried the Musa and Omega IV, and if I thought those were the only types of rubber XIOM contracts out to ESN to make, I'd never buy XIOM either but XIOM has a very diverse range. The Musa was especially bad.

Try Fastarc C-1. I liked it better than G-1 on the backhand. 45 degrees, Great grip, spin, feeling and control; almost zero catapult, so short game is easy. G1 has all the same properties, but C1 had better feeling and control for me on the backhand probably due to the slightly softer sponge.

Thanks waingro for that suggestion.
This is also an interesting option.
Unfortunately, I've never had the chance to play Fastarc C-1, neither against anyone who has this rubber.
I did not consider C-1, because according to the opinions available on the web, it is rated much worse than G-1 in terms of spin.
Please tell me what thickness of sponge you played [G-1 and C-1] and what is your opinion about the differences in genereted rotation between these two rubbers.

G1 is usually recommended for forehand. It feels harder than T05.

Yasaka Rakza 7/7 soft might be a better option, or Joola MaXXX-p/500

FastArc C-1 is an excellent BH rubber for me. If I'm not mistaken (I might be wrong), G-1 and C-1 have the same topsheet, but G-1 has a harder sponge. So, the spin on touch shots should be the same and you would see a difference in spin the more you dig into the sponge further away from the table.

I played Yasaka Rakza 7 Soft on BH for a few months. It's a nice rubber, in my opinion very similar to the Andro Hexer Grip SFX I'm currently using.
But I'm looking for something a bit different.

LOG1C1AN, waingro - thanks for your tips.
It seems that after all, Nittaku Fastarc C-1 will be the best option for BH for me :)

For this rubber, I can choose one of three sponge thicknesses: 1.4 mm, 1.8 mm or 2.0 mm.
What do you think - what thickness will give me maximum control without losing too much spin?
1.8 mm?

2.0mm already has super control in my opinion, but that's up to you. 1.8mm would work too.

G1 and C1 have exact same topsheet. I used G1 and C1 2.0. Almost no difference in spin. G1 has more power in counter-topspin away from the table; that's the main difference. Black color has more grip, so I recommend that on BH.

Check out this Japanese player that uses G1 forehand C1 backhand:

Hello guys,

I am back to share my impressions with you after a few weeks of playing Nittaku Fastarc C-1.

Thanks again for your recommendation – this rubber turned out to be really great option for my backhand J

It took me only about ten hours of play to adjust my habits after change my Andro Hexer Grip SFX to this Nittaku rubber. And I don’t want to come back to Andro, in spite of I really liked it before, because in my opinion, the Nittaku Fastarc C-1 is at least as good as Andro Hexer Grip SFX in close to table play and no doubt is much better in mid distance strikes.

Of course I know there are exists faster, spinnier and more dangerous rubbers for my opponents, but for 47 years old amateur player as I am, I think that Nittaku Fastarc C-1 is an ideal option.

I have a lot of control, quite good amount of spin and nice level of speed I'm able to handle. And what is the most important – I can create various types of strikes and have a really huge fun of play.

Nittaku Fastarc C-1 is very stable and repeatable in close to table play. Blocks are easy and I have full control to place the ball where I want. My hits are not too slow, so there are not too easy to pick up for my opponent. The amount of spin I can create is a bit lower than with Andro Hexer Grip SFX but still is really good and on the other hand I have no problem to handle the incoming rotation.

When playing further away from the table, I have enough power and control at the same time, and changing/reversing of incoming rotation is not a big deal.

With the Nittaku Fastarc C-1 I can effectively do all sorts of serves - short, long, forwardspin, backspin, sidespin, no spin... It's really simple.

And one more very important thing for me - as I wrote above - I don't like the catapult effect, which is characteristic of many modern rubbers, so I'm glad that with this rubber it is practically unnoticeable.

To sum up -

At now I play with:

Nittaku Piecea blade, Nittaku Sieger PK50 2,0mm [FH], Nittaku Fastarc C-1 1,8mm [BH]

… and I know that I have finally found the set I really like to play with. I’m sure that for the next dozen of months I will not concentrate for change of my equipment but on having fun of playing table tennis.

PS:

I had possibility to try Nittaku Fastarc G-1 [2,0] too. Unfortunatelly, it was too difficult for me to control the ball in fast rallys. I think my technic level is not enough to use the full potential of this rubber.

I had possibility to try Nittaku Fastarc G-1 [2,0] too. Unfortunatelly, it was too difficult for me to control the ball in fast rallys. I think my technic level is not enough to use the full potential of this rubber.

Hi, thank you for sharing the thoughts!
Only thing that I would add - C1 after half of year of fairly good use will become dead.
At least mine does not last too long and a year seem to be too much for this rubber.
