I really don"t like this format.
regarding ittf points, it increases the gap between the top 30 players and the other ones...
And even this, this is not exactly true since players like Chen Xingtong, Zhang Rui, Qian Tianyi, Miu Hirano.....may not participate....and no qualifications.
Those tournaments should be exhibition tournaments with...money but no points.

The biggest problem I have is the timing. Slipping in 2 WTT CS back-to-back right before the WTTC, where seeding plays a big factor?

Anyone can smell from a mile away that they want to downplay and sabotage the WTTC and Olympics as much/soon as possible.

https://mytabletennis.net/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=92179&PID=1138212&title=wttc-finals-2022-chengdu-9-3010-9#1138212
Quote Table Tennis Report refrained from on-site coverage at the World Championships for the first time since its creation in 1957 (including the period after moving to the web publication in 2018). There were many reasons for the decision, but the absence on site left us great scars. In a similar manner there were many players who decided not to attend the event for several reasons. Among them, especially, the German Table Tennis Association made a radical decision to attend the event without the top three players, it made us want to ask the real truth behind such a decision.
I hope the World Team Championships held once every two years will remain the most prestigious event to decide the strongest team in the world. We watched some nail-biting fierce battles in Chengdu, some of which were fiercer than in the past. Therefore, we do not think the authority of the event was damaged even though some of the top players had cancelled their attendance. However, that does not sweep away the non-attendance of the players who should have been there. Such regulations should be reviewed if the lack of the points awarded to the singles ranking for the wins in the team event contributed to the decision of not attending the championships as Ms. Herweg mentioned.
Luckily, we can confirm the fact that Ms. Herweg, eventually the German Table Tennis Association, has the same thoughts.
The decision is up to the players eventually, but we sincerely hope the World Team Championships will remain the best stage for the players where they are honoured to perform.

https://worldtabletennis.com/eventInfo?eventId=2593&selectedTab=Player%20List
WTT CS ESS 2022
MS
1/1 wildcard - Bence Majoros WR135
1/1 WTT nomination - Alexis Lebrun WR47
WS
1/1 wildcard - Georgina Pota WR57
1/1 WTT nomination - Chen Xingtong WR32

https://www.ittf.com/2022-ittf-table-tennis-world-ranking/
WK25 2022/6/21 was used for entry list per the handbook (4 weeks prior the event start). WK27 2022/7/5 was used for seeding, when WK28 2022/7/12 should've been used (even though no change). Regardless, next in line after the NER were Liu Weishan WR19, Fan Siqi WR21, Hirano WR27, Chen Xingtong WR31, Kuai Man WR33... For men, JWJ WR 37 and within NER had to pull out after testing positive. Next in line after NER were Filus WR29, Duda WR30, Yuan Licen WR33, Xiang Peng WR34...

https://worldtabletennis.com/eventInfo?eventId=2619&selectedTab=Player%20List
WTT CS Macao 2022
MS
1/1 wildcard - Lin Gaoyuan WR12
1/1 WTT nomination - Unused
WS
1/1 wildcard - Chen Xingtong WR13
1/1 WTT nomination - Unused

TTWR WK34 2022/8/23 was used for entry list, when WK38 2022/9/20 should've been used. WK39 2022/9/27 was used for seeding, when WK42 2022/10/18 should've been used (even though little change).

WTT CS Macao 2022 took place right after WTTC 2022, and Hayata withdrew due to upper arm injury during WTTC 2022, and several players that were qualified by WR and NER chose not to participate, and China's COVID-19 policy made it nigh-impossible to fly there on short notice so it was understandable.

Duda takes injured Boll's place as 4th German allowed to play this event.

When I saw the list a few weeks ago, QTY got the wild card.....then they gave it to CXT.
QTY injured or they once again decided to play the dictator's game ?

Completely agree. If you want to run big tournaments where you are picky about who can play, fine. But, these events should not go towards WR, especially since the new system makes WR more important than ever as WTT organises tournaments in a way that ignores national leagues and looks towards creating a tennis style system where the top players make good money from tour events whilst anyone outside the top 20 has to pay to play.

Imagine being ranked 7th in Germany and harbouring some ambition to playing in big events and getting a WR that reflects your ability. Not possible, instead you find yourself ineligible for big events and ranked behind players worse than you that are fortunate enough to represent smaller countries.

Nice of Bobrow to suggest the expedite rule as a potential way to beat choppers but there are examples that it actually helped them.
