It's crazy watching the Harimotos dominate doubles rallies with their backhands.

Tomo really stepped up that last game.  I must say I really do enjoy watching the brother/sister pair.

It's only fitting that the Harimotos first time pairing ends up with the Championship trophy.  Miwa has a shot at a 2nd one tomorrow.  Don't count out Miwa for Paris 2024.

Even Hupu users feel Ito was dragging down Hayata.

Almost 5 years later, I think it's fair to say JTTA doesn't deserve a player like Hayata after what happened to Hirano. Such a waste.

I haven't either - with youth there is always variability, but the truth is that Japan has enough gap between them and the other teams to take risks.

My predictions for Nagasaki and Kihara from 2018 have held up well, much to my chagrin. Nagasaki is behind and Kihara is ahead now, but both are in for a difficult time with Harimoto closing in fast. Their performance at WTTC 2022 will decide their fates beyond Paris 2024.

Anyone know what happened to CXT?  She's in the Player's List, but not in the main draw.

She withdrew from WS/WD/XD. Many on Tieba/Douban suspect that she tested positive.
My conspiracy theory: China trolling Japan.  China is helping to push Ishikawa into top 2 Japanese singles.  CM in the same quarter as Kasumi at the ESS SCT withdraws.  Perhaps didn't want to make it too obvious so WYD beats Kasumi in SF.  CXT was listed in the same quarter here in Tunis suddenly withdraws.  Kasumi has to do her part and make the Paris 2024 team :).

Haha, maybe :)) But till now, even if the results of Ishikawa Vs the CNT top 4 is not that good, Hayata is 0-9 Vs the same players.
Ito is the best one with 5 wins vs the top 4 CNT.

The difference is Hataya beat all Chinese players outside the top 4,   kasumi lost to all of them .

That is why it is stupid to pick players based on  the ranking. The opponent can easily influence the selections of your players. Japan only have themselves to blame

Well, all those players that Hayata defeated won't participate at the OG, that is the only things to know. You may have beaten Zhang Rui 25 times, that is not relevant for the OG

Don't you pick your best 2 players for the Olympics?  And kasumi is not one of the best 2 players in Japan at the monent. Even The two Miyus are better than Kasumi right now.  Do you want Japan to be manipulated by China and send their 5th, 6th best player (kasumi) to the Olympics? That does not make sense,  does it?

Japan has its own selection method and you can't do anything about it.....Ishikawa is still in the top 3 JNT players to me and even if she may lose from Hayata and Ito, she is still able to defeat all the other JNT players and she is currently still superior to the Myus.
Once again, it is 100 % clear like pure water: it is nice winning from Qiu Fei or Zhang Rui but it is not relevant for the OG. Once Hayata wins Vs the top 4 CNT players, I will consider she has better chances than Ishikawa to get a medal at the OG.
We will see the results by the end of next year, Hayata and Ishikawa are on the same starting line and the best one will be picked by JNT for the OG.....

Kasumi Still a top 3 player in Japan? LOL.
more like 5th or 6th best player in Japan right now.

Harimoto Miwa still has 102 days for trying to break Ito Mima's performance when she won the German open (14 years and 153 days).

She will have a few opportunities to do it in the next 3 months: today in Tunis, in Olomouc, probably Muscat, Almaty, Novo Gorica

Regarding the doubles, Ito's record is out of reach for a long time IMO.

I could be wrong, but it looked like a bit of gamesmanship by ZR.  In one of the deuce in the 7th points, Harimoto crouching down to serve, ZR suddenly raises her hand and looks at the umpire as if to slow down Miwa.  In any case, Miwa has a ton of fight in her.  Her forehand was a bit inconsistent at the end, but there's a lot to get excited about in the near future.

how many real chances did she have so far? I mean tournaments she played where there were no LSW, DN, ,ZYL, CM, WY, WMY, SYS, Cxt. She was originally destinated to be an Ito clone ( even if her SP use is obviously different) and like HZJ, she has managed having decent results
