Major news coming out of China indicate that Zhang Jike is heavily in debt, and has given his ex's intimate videos/pictures to his lender to help blackmail his ex to help pay his gambling debt. This video summarizes Zhang borrowing money from all of his exes as well as friends to his pay for his gambling debts, which has become a habit of his since 2004. This latest incident depicts Zhang fooled his ex into spending 10 million Yuan to buy a mansion that was supposed to be their marriage house, but he ended up selling the house to pay his debt, and he has since broke up with his ex. All in all, many brands have decided to drop his sponsorship, and looks like he will be going to court soon over these alleged fraudulent activities including grand larceny, etc.

No this is true. One of the most well known investigative journalist in China, who sits as a chairman of one of those journalistic committees, have solid concrete proof of ZJKs blackmailing. Including his promissory note to his lender, bank transactions when applying for a house loan which the bank denied because they viewed him as high risk as they saw numerous back and forth money exchanges between his account and casinos, other communication between lender and ZJK, and corroboration of many of ZJKs ex and associates. So that's why once that investigative journalist stepped in, ZJK is essentially f**ked. Prior to him coming in, ZJKs team threatened legal lawsuits to quell all of the accusations. It is exactly type of intimidation and litigation lawsuit that made the journalist to come out to give proofs of ZJKs alleged involvement from beginning to end

Note: I don't speak/read Chinese. I only read the articles in English like this one.
First, there is nothing that shows that ZJK tried to commit extortion or blackmail. It was the lender named "S" that did it. ZJK only gave "S" the intimate photos/videos. That does not show that ZJK knew what "S" was going to do i.e. blackmail Jing Tian. Maybe ZJK thought "S" was just a superfan and wanted Jing Tian's intimate photos/videos and ZJK knew nothing about the plan to blackmail. In the article, it looks like "S" is already in prison since December 2020. So if the Chinese police have not linked the blackmail charge of "S" to ZJK, I am doubtful that they can connect it now 2.5 years later. Liulin, was there anything provided regarding the trial of "S"? Was ZJK a witness or Jing Tian? If the police use "S" as a witness if they decide to press charges against ZJK, ZJK's lawyers can just say that "S" is trying to negotiate a reduction in sentence. Second, the amount of the debt is 5 million Yuan which is about $725K USD. A quick search of ZJK's net worth shows $10M USD (ok, I know he lost sponsors so this can be less now). That debt amount is less than 10% of his net worth. If someone makes $100K USD and they blow $10-20K USD in gambling, it does not seem excessive if they are in that income range. So unless there are other debtors trying to collect, I don't see ZJK trying to commit any crimes over it. Here's my advice for ZJK: 1. Kiss and make up with Jing Tian. Although they were joint owners of the wedding gift house, he should not have sold it. Purchase another one to show her you are committed to the relationship. Fans love romance and a comeback so go sing duets in Chinese variety shows. Do some publicity damage control. 2. Go back to your roots which is table tennis. You don't have to compete or coach but just do some good training with the CNT. Mentor the young guys like WCQ, Lin Shidong, and Liu Dingshuo. This keeps your name in the mix and shows that you want to share your wealth of knowledge. 3. Be nicer to fans. When those two girls asked for an autograph and they asked "How should we cheer for you?", you were very rude. Show a little more respect. Lastly, get some help with the gambling. "S" does not appear to be a legitimate lender. So if ZJK is going to loan sharks or Triad members, he's got a real problem. Get to gambler's anonymous (does China have this?) and seek help. You are still young (35?). No need to waste all of your money.

The advice 1. and 2. is crazy lol first of all whether a crime was committed or not, this guy gave essentially sex tapes of his ex-partner to a creditor - he admitted this publicly. Whether he knew the creditor would try and extort her or not, this is a repulsive behaviour and deserves all the scrutiny of the public. I don’t think Jing Tian (who was not been with him since 2019), is going to ‘kiss and makeup’ you need to understand that the videos essentially ended up in the public arena. The table tennis team will not take him back in any capacity -whether criminal or not, his actions are morally disgraceful. Your points 3. and 4. I definitely agree on, especially 3 and I know exactly this scenario you are talking about. What the fans did for him was crazy at that tournament. They bought a whole section of seat tickets to place a ZJK fanclub banner. Probably 100+ seats. They bought him gifts and he basically shunned them and walked off. I played in that wttc and I remember those two girls watching him in the training hall and they were absolutely buzzing. |

I always saw him as an uneducated arrogant ass who sees only money through life. If we add that he thinks he can beat the casinos and that he shared sex tapes of his GF, we're done thinking he'll ever have a chance to be a decent man. Screw him! A couple of comments about your first paragraph. Again, I cannot read Chinese articles, only the English ones. You wrote "sex tapes". Is it an actual sex tape i.e. the two of them having sex acts? I doubt ZJK would share videos of him in the starring role. Also, her career does not seem to have plummeted and I don't see sponsors or production companies trying to create distance. Unless anyone has seen it, my guess is it's more in the "intimate" category where she was either naked covered under a bed sheet and ZJK is filming after they woke up in the morning or maybe she is lounging around in lingerie or a skimpy swimsuit. I highly doubt it is an actual sex act but who knows. You also wrote "admitted publicly". Again, I do not see in the articles ZJK admitting anything. Actually, he's denying everything i.e. the debt, the video payment, etc. It's been a while since all of this has transpired and I don't see any charges for ZJK. I'm starting to believe that other video (the one that mentioned Jian Tian's financier) where there is some sort of underlying political connections or character assassination going on... but I can't read Chinese.

It was part of his testimony in the case of the creditor when he was sent to prison for 7 years. During the testimony Zhang Jike said he did give explicit material of his ex-partner to the creditor. Obviously don't know what the content of such material is, the main question is why he would give it to the creditor and whether it was used as collateral or whether there was an understanding between ZJK and the creditor that the material would then be used to extort her for money. I haven't seen or heard anything for a while either. |
