Slow-mo playback both before and after the answer has been added EDIT: I also removed the "show a few more milliseconds" and replaced it with just a single pause time, since I figured everyone was always clicking it anyway, and it's not like you get bonus points for not clicking it. A couple of more suggestions:
• I think you should have a quick visual "Guide" or "How To Play" when you first come to the page • I think you should perhaps add more spin options Here's a quick visual representation of what I'm talking about: Edited by Pondus - 05/13/2014 at 10:41am |

I know what you're saying about spin, but I think adding a bit more difficulty will give the game better longevity. I also, as another mentioned earlier, think it would be helpful to display the correct answer after someone submits a wrong answer.

This is ok as a game of basically random guessing. But not very helpful as a training aid. You cannot see the motion and contact well enough to really read the serve.

http://ace.rohitnair.net/ Also, to all the people who have complained about the poor camera angle, I'm planning on splitting this app into two versions: one will have the professional player's serves from the standard camera angle like you see now, and one with user submitted service videos taken from the receiver's POV, so you can see the contact clearly. If you're interested, and have videos you'd like to submit, please tell me here or email me at [email protected] |

+1 Thought I was the only one thinking this as it took this long into the thread for someone to point this out. Did the first one with Ma Long. Where the video stops Ma could still go in any direction and spin of the serve. I think a better training app would be to quickly show you the serve, take it off the screen right after contact and ask you what spin was on it. Anyways, just my two cents. Love the idea of where the app is going. Well done. ..... Okay disregard my point above. It's just that one serve I tried out. Tested out another. This time with a Dima backhand serve and it stops just after the contact so to me that makes sense.

Suggestion: create another version of app in which you show the whole serve (till receiver reveals how he shall take the ball) and the user has to guess whether it is side-top / side-under, spin / no-spin. So, the user does not need to answer on direction or length.
When you use serve examples of players like Hao Shuai, you're forcing the user to determine the answer by looking at the ball trajectory off blade and off the 1st bounce. To greater enforce this learning, you can also (in another series) include serves from the hidden-serve era. Simpler examples could be answered by looking at what part of blade made contact with the ball.
