I have Mahogany in my penhold handle,
Hipnotic (SDC) custom-made. Mahogany handle provides excellent feel, highly recommend. I don't have blades with Mahogany surface (layer).

I played with Donic Burn OFF with mahogany outer layers.
Didn´t like it all, the blade was hard as a brick. I would say mahogany is the opposite to hinoki in terms of hardness. Not to mention the outer layer started to leave splinters after some rubber changes.

I suggest you to try Adidas V1-5 blade if you can find one since it is discontinued for long. Exactly same composition than burn off-. Completely different behaviour. Much better!
In other words, composition is important, but craftsmanship much more.

I never played a mahogany blade but played the Nittauku Barwell Fleet with walnut top ply. Don't like it at all, hard and heavy.

I play with one, It is an old Alfa Pro model. As others have said it is very hard and fairly fast. I like it. Right now it has Red Diamond 2.1 fore hand, and Flashback Medium pips Backhand (black) 1.8 mm

VKMO. Faster than regular VKM probably due to the mahogany outer plies.

"For power allround players that like to attack with variety and powerful shots. Great for attacking, dynamic, great control, balanced characteristics. Technology: 5 veneers made of abachi (core veneer), pine (2+4) and tiba mahogany (1+5, outer veneers)
A 5-ply power allround blade for versatile players that value control slightly more but still expect a high level of power. The mahogany outer veneer is slightly softer than the very hard walnut outer veneer of the [Ma Lin Extra Offensive]" Basically, (if you've tried Extra offensive), Mahogany is a softer feel than the walnut, but most likely harder than Hinoki, Limba or Koto.
