Best Light Weight Carbon Blade/Rubber

I'm trying to put together a blade rubber combination that fits an intermediate offensive game and doesn't hurt my arm. I like to attack and win points close to the table. I saw a thread on this topic, but it was 7 years old. I really appreciate any suggestions you might have.


I've been playing 3 years with a Bty Innerforce ALC with Tenergy 05 1.9mm on both sides. The total weight of this blade is 180g +/ 2g (my scale is cheap and has a resolution of 2g)

I recently ponied up for a Bty Jan Jike ALC with MX-P 1.8 mm and Tenergy 05 1.9 mm. I can really tell the difference and would keep using it, but it's a bit heavy and hard on my arm. I've determined it is about 3g heavier than my blade above. I'm surprised that 3g is so noticeable? It seems to be really well balanced, but I can see the blade is definitely thicker than the one above. I've used this blade twice and would be willing to sell it for 1/2 price if anyone is interested. It's awesome, but I know I want something lighter. But I definitely see the improved attacking possibilities with this blade. My FH loops had way more power without losing any control. Great feedback and I think I could tame it if I had more time.


Anyway, I'm thinking of buying a Yasaka Ma Lin Carbon and putting Mark V on both sides. Does anyone know if Mark V is lighter than Tenergy 05? I have a friend with this blade and rubber and it was way lighter than my JJALC and the Mark V seemed fine to me. Not sure what thickness I should get. Leaning towards 1.8 mm just to make sure it stays light.

I've also used an Innerforce ZLC with Tenergy 05 and that was way way too fast for me. I have a Stiga Rosewood XO with 05 1.9 mm on both sides which is playable, but I definitely prefer Carbon.

Thanks for the suggestion TT! Looking at the Spintech blades I'm thinking that Eidolon might fit my game even better and it's just as light. The OFF+ of the Phenom might be a bit fast for me. Very helpful!!

I have tried MXP with my blades, I like it but it is as heavy if not heavier than t05 (max). I have a ZJK ALC with t05 max and Fx80 max and weighs 183g but does not feel heavy, everyone who tries it says how comfortable it feels, my son uses that blade now (took it from me). But I tried it with 2 t05s it was too heavy and fast for me.

Thanks Ericto, it could be the MX-P and 05 that's weighing it down. I found that rubber database too, thanks for sharing the link. It looks like the MX-P is about 4% heavier than the 05. The average 05 1.9 mm looks like .225 g/cm2 and MX-P looks like at least .235 g/cm2. That's going to add 5g to 10g more to the total weight over something that's lighter. That's a problem with 05 and MX-P for me. When I was younger, I would have no problem I'm sure, but now arm fatigue from repetitive motions is an issue. I should probably do some targeted arm exercises to minimize that. If anyone knows of any, let me know.

I just put the paddle up for sale on Craigslist for $150. I paid $323 total for it. I live in Fremont, CA so that's probably going to complicate a sale to you even further. The electronic scale I bought yesterday tells me the total weight of the paddle is .400 lbs or 181.43g, but the resolution of this scale is .005 lb or 2.3g. I can add weight to it and it doesn't flip to .405 so I'm pretty sure it should be close to 182g, but who knows about the accuracy of this stupid scale. I may go exchange this scale for something better today. Without taking the rubber off and measuring I wouldn't be able to say for sure what the blade weighs.

The Donic Ovtcharov True Carbon can be obtained in low weight (also because the playing surface is more compact). Combine it with rubbers like Xiom Omega VII Euro which is very light, yet fast and you should have a nice, fast and lightweight setup.

axiom omega 7 is much lighter rubber with GREAT mid high gear.
