Put them all in the washing machine, only cold water and no spin cycle.
Gross as in a lot of balls right. |

You can also put them in a bathtub with water and dishwashing liquid and soak and rinse them. Then dry with a towel.

Either is fine.
Towel drying is more effective I find. |

Hair Dryer? Won't that heat the ball?

dont aim it directly. Just move back and forth. Get a big bucket and place towels at the bottom, then put all the balls in there, while mixing em around just move the hair blower back and forth. Works when you have a big amount of ping pong balls.

Why would you want to wash them? To get the fine power off new balls, or just to wash used balls that have gotten a bit dirty? I know I wash my used balls to keep them clean, and I just use a towel, or let them air dry if there are a lot.

just to wash used balls that have gotten a bit dirty. Mines a lot dirtier. I'm gonna clean my balls (not my balls but you get the point) before I sleep tonight.

For once - you must wash and dry the new balls if you are planning to use them in the robot. Else, the powder from the new balls won't do any good to the robot...
I dry mine with the paper towel.... |

Interesting topic. I was considering recently to clean news balls since powder spoils my rubbers. I have marks all over my black bomb mopha and cannot make them disappear :(. I thought this phenomenon was dedicated to tacky rubbers, but grippy ones are concerned too.
So yes, let's clean our balls ;) |

There are so many things wrong with this topic. I laughed through most of the posts. Particularly these comments.
" Do I let them air dry or towel dry?" " Either is fine. Towel drying is more effective I find." "Hair Dryer? Won't that heat the ball?" " Put them all in the washing machine, only cold water and no spin cycle." I must admit, i towel dry my balls. |

We must make a commitment to always clean our balls twice a day. Also for the girls here, just clean your own balls either it be 38mm, 40mm or even 500000mm.

I clean my balls after each session, but keep in mind I am Tommy Zai and my sessions are a minimum of 2-hours . . . NOT 2-minutes. :-). I wet a sponge with warm water and mild dish-washing detergent, the rub out the marks and blems.

Any more creative ideas over the span of 2.5 years since this thread sprung to life?
BTW, is this exactly the reason this sports is experiencing poor participation of gals? Edited by zeio - 05/26/2011 at 3:38am |
